The Diary Begins With Roxy's Death
The preview cuts and story summary for episode 13 come from Japanese entertainment news site Mantan Web, which published four stills on September 17. Three of them feature the women at the center of Rudeus's life: Sylphie, Roxy and Eris. The fourth shows Hitogami, the being who has been steering Rudeus from the shadows since Season 1.
The episode picks up with the message left by Rudeus's older self from the future. His instructions are blunt: consult Nanahoshi, send a letter to Eris, and be suspicious of Hitogami without turning him into an enemy. Rudeus then opens the diary his older self entrusted to him.
What he finds inside, according to the Mantan Web summary, is the harrowing, gruesome life his future self lived. That account starts with Roxy's death. The source doesn't go further than that, so we'll find out how much of the diary makes it on screen when the episode airs.
The episode title itself is simple. "Nikki" translates directly to "Diary," and it's the object that drives the whole episode.
Studio Bind's Third Season, and Where Episode 13 Falls
Mushoku Tensei III is produced by Studio Bind, the animation studio that Mantan Web notes was founded specifically for this franchise. Its work on the 2021 first season drew attention for its visual quality, and the studio has stayed on the series since. Season 3 is directed by Ryōsuke Shibuya, with character designs by Masae Shimada and Ryōta Furukawa and music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa.
The Season 3 voice cast carries over the familiar names. Yumi Uchiyama voices Rudeus Greyrat, Ai Kayano voices Sylphiette, Konomi Kohara voices Roxy, and Ai Kakuma voices Eris. Nanahoshi, the person Rudeus is told to consult, is voiced by Shion Wakayama.
For readers who need a refresher: Mushoku Tensei began in 2012 as a web novel by Rifujin na Magonote on the Japanese web-novel site Shōsetsuka ni Narō, later published in print by MF Books under KADOKAWA. A 34-year-old jobless man dies, is reborn in a world of swords and magic, and starts over with the intelligence and regrets of his previous life intact.
The anime has followed a split-season pattern from the start. Season 1 aired its two halves in January to March and October to December 2021. Season 2 ran July to September 2023 and April to June 2024. Season 3 premiered on July 5, 2026 and airs weekly in a Sunday late-night slot on TOKYO MX and other stations. Episode 8, which aired on August 16, kicked off the season's Chaos Breaker arc, and episode 13 continues from there.

Episode 13 airs late on September 20, 2026 in Japan. Crunchyroll streams Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 in select countries and territories, and the service announced an English dub that premiered on July 18, 2026.
