The TV anime Kizuguchi to Hōtai will begin broadcasting on January 9, 2027, with Hisako Kanemoto and Chikahiro Kobayashi in the lead roles, Anime Hack reported on October 16, 2026. A teaser PV themed on love and the first theme visual were released with the announcement.
Kanemoto voices Riyo Washizu, the daughter of the boss of a yakuza group that controls the whole Kantō region, and Kobayashi plays Gō Kiritani, the young lieutenant ordered to look after her (Anime News Network).
AT-X airs the premiere from 11:00 p.m. JST on January 9. The broadcast on the ABC TV and TV Asahi national network follows in the ANiMAZiNG!!! block at 2:00 a.m., and ABEMA has the earliest streaming, from 2:30 a.m.
The teaser PV, subtitled "Ai" (love), is put together from well-known scenes in the manga, presenting Kiritani as the one who takes the wounds and Riyo as the one who binds them. The first theme visual shows the two standing side by side. PVs and visuals are planned for four consecutive weeks.
The romantic comedy is serialized on Getsumaga Kichi, Kodansha's web manga site, and five collected volumes have been published. Riyo is aroused by the sight of strong people growing weak, and Kiritani is thrown around by that trait as the two grow closer.
Both leads sent comments with the announcement. Kanemoto said the characters' expressions in the manga are lovely and sometimes wonderfully odd, and that she went into recording hoping to convey their distinctive inner lives through her voice as well. Kobayashi said the series is recorded in the morning and that all the loud voice work leaves him energetic for the rest of the day, adding that he expects viewers will feel the same.
