Kenshō Ono Returns as the Federation's Most Wanted Man
The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is the second entry in the trilogy adapting the three-volume novel by Mobile Suit Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. The story is set in Universal Century 0105, twelve years after Char's Rebellion. A grown-up Hathaway Noa now leads the armed resistance group Mafty in open revolt against an oppressive Earth Federation government. All the while, Gigi Andalucia, a young woman with a mysterious power, keeps throwing him off balance.
Kenshō Ono (小野賢章), who voiced Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind and Tetsuya Kuroko in Kuroko's Basketball, plays Hathaway, with Reina Ueda (上田麗奈) as Gigi. Director Shūkō Murase, who also helmed the first film in 2021, returns for the sequel, produced at Sunrise.
A Sequel That Outgrossed the Original
According to Japanese anime news site Anime Hack, the film opened in Japanese theaters on January 30, 2026 and has already passed the first film's final box office total. That makes the streaming premiere a fast turnaround by theatrical anime standards: about seven months from opening day to a subscription service.
The rollout comes in two steps. Rental and purchase options open on Prime Video on August 17, and the subscription-exclusive streaming window starts August 31. One note for readers outside Japan: the Prime Video exclusivity covered by Anime Hack's report applies only to the Japanese market.
Looking Ahead
International fans get the film the same day, just on a different service. Netflix has announced that The Sorcery of Nymph Circe begins streaming on its platform on August 31, following the film's North American theatrical run, which began May 15 with both subtitles and an English dub. That echoes the first film's path to viewers abroad: 2021's Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway also reached international audiences through Netflix.
With part two now heading to streaming in Japan and abroad, one film remains in Tomino's trilogy. The announcement didn't include any details on the finale, so the concluding chapter of Hathaway's rebellion is the next thing to watch for.
