The Hero's Party Walks Into a Cursed Village

The new game takes players back to the era when Frieren traveled alongside Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen on their quest to defeat the Demon King. The party arrives at a village called Grauben, where a demon's "magic that tears bonds apart" has turned the villagers against each other. Players take on the role of a novice mage from Grauben who calls on the Hero's Party for help.

Things escalate from there. Himmel himself falls under the demon's spell, and it's up to the player to work with Frieren and the rest of the party to identify demons disguised among the villagers and save both the village and its hero. The event features newly recorded voice performances from the anime cast, according to Anime Anime's report, letting players feel like they're adventuring alongside the characters in real time.

The anime is produced by Madhouse (Death Note, One-Punch Man), and the source manga by Yamada Kanehito and Abe Tsukasa has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday with over 30 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Building on a 30,000-Player Hit

SCRAP's first Frieren collaboration, "Escape from the Thousand-Year Dream," ran across 15 cities starting in 2024 and drew over 30,000 participants. That event is currently re-running at the Real Escape Game Harajuku Store to celebrate the anime's second season finale.

The sequel keeps the same general format: a 60-minute puzzle time limit within a 120-minute total experience, simultaneous group starts, and a recommended age of 13 and up. The core hook this time is deception. Demons in Frieren's world are known for mimicking human appearance and behavior to devastating effect, and the game puts that threat front and center by asking players to figure out which villagers are real and which are predators in disguise.

Tickets and Exclusive Merchandise

Fan club members of SCRAP's "Shonen Tantei SCRAP-dan" get first access to tickets starting June 27 at noon JST, with general sales opening July 4 at noon. Weekday individual tickets run at ¥3,700 (approximately $24), with group rates starting at ¥3,400 per person for parties of six.

For an additional ¥3,500, any pre-sale ticket can be upgraded to a special edition that includes "Magic That Connects 300 Years," a limited merchandise set containing an acrylic clock and an original puzzle challenge. The name is a nod to one of the anime's most beloved gags: Frieren being sentenced to 300 years of labor in a mine.

Looking Ahead

The event launches September 10 at SCRAP's Harajuku Store in Tokyo's Shibuya ward. Additional cities on the nationwide tour will be announced on the event's special site. SCRAP's escape rooms are Japan-only events with no international locations announced.

For fans outside Japan, the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime streams on Crunchyroll, and the source manga is published in English by Viz Media. The anime's third season, covering the Golden City arc, is confirmed for October 2027.
