Former AKB48 Member Leads the Cast
The visual brings together five lead performers against an eerie, occult-themed backdrop, a fitting look for a series where a ghost-believing girl and an alien-obsessed boy stumble into constant supernatural chaos. Yuiri Murayama (村山彩希), who graduated from AKB48 in June 2025 after over 1,300 theater performances with the idol group, plays Momo. Raimu Ninomiya (二宮礼夢), whose stage credits include the Prince of Tennis musical and the Haikyu!! stage play, takes on Okarun in human form.
The production splits Okarun across two performers. Hiroki Hyakuna (百名ヒロキ), a veteran of the RENT and Fist of the North Star musicals, plays the powered-up version, while Ninomiya handles the human side. Splitting the role across two actors gives the production a physical way to show Okarun's supernatural transformation onstage.
中別府葵 (likely Aoi Nakabeppu) plays Seiko, and 田中梨瑚 (likely Riko Tanaka) rounds out the leads as Aira. 山崎里彩 (likely Risa Yamazaki) takes on Acrobatic Sarasara. The full production includes a 15-member ensemble and two swing performers.
Imajin Itō (伊藤今人), founder of the dance-theater troupe Umebō and a choreographer on the Touken Ranbu and MANKAI STAGE A3! stage series, directs. Shinjirō Kameda (亀田真二郎) wrote the script, with Ryō Konishi (小西遼) composing the music. Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ editorial department and MIX GREEN serve as supervisors.
Photo Ops and Character Send-Offs at Every Show
According to Japanese manga and anime news site Comic Natalie, every performance features an "Occultic Performance & Photo Session!" segment where photography and video recording are allowed during the curtain call.
The production has also built rotating specials into the run. These include a lottery for cast-autographed show posters, an after-talk session with director Itō, scriptwriter Kameda, and composer Konishi, a performance-day-only cast comment video, and a post-show character send-off where performers see the audience out in costume. Specific dates for each event are posted on the official stage play website.
Looking Ahead
Dandadan Occultic Stage runs August 26 through September 3, 2026 at Nihon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo, then moves to Sky Theater MBS in Osaka for September 11 through 13. Nelke Planning, the company behind live stage adaptations like the Touken Ranbu and Prince of Tennis musical series, produces. Ticket and scheduling details are available on the production's official website and its X account (@stage_dandadan).
No international streaming or broadcast of the stage play has been announced. The Dandadan anime, produced by Science SARU, completed its second season in September 2025, with a third season confirmed for 2027. The anime streams internationally on Netflix and Crunchyroll. The source manga by Yukinobu Tatsu continues serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+, and Viz Media publishes the English-language edition.
