Two of Jump's Biggest Land on the Same Day
Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man and Yukinobu Tatsu's Dandadan sharing a release date at the exact same volume number is the kind of coincidence manga fans will notice. Both series launched in the early 2020s, both became instant hits, and both now sit at volume 24 as of today. The full release list was published by Comic Natalie.
Chainsaw Man remains one of Shueisha's biggest active properties, with Part 2 serializing in Shonen Jump+ and the anime's second season keeping the franchise in constant conversation. Dandadan, meanwhile, has ridden its own anime adaptation straight into mainstream recognition — its blend of aliens, ghosts, and high school chaos made it one of the breakout titles of recent seasons.
Shueisha Dominates the List
The bulk of today's releases come from Shueisha, which is dropping well over 30 volumes across its Jump imprint lines. Beyond the two headliners, notable pickups include:
- Boruto: Two Blue Vortex vol. 8 (Mikio Ikemoto / Masashi Kishimoto) — the Naruto sequel continues its monthly serialization in V Jump.
- Witch Watch vol. 26 (Kenta Shinohara) — the Sket Dance creator's supernatural comedy keeps trucking.
- The New Prince of Tennis vol. 47 (Takeshi Konomi) — one of the longest-running sports manga still in serialization.
- Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life vol. 34 (Amyuu) — the koto club drama that quietly became one of Jump SQ's most consistent performers.
- Chained Soldier vol. 21 (Yohei Takemura / Takahiro) — the action series published in English by Seven Seas.
- Nue's Exorcist vol. 15 (Kota Kawae) — available in English on Manga Plus.
- Akane-banashi vol. 22 (Takamasa Moue / Yuki Suenaga) — the rakugo drama still going strong in Weekly Shonen Jump.
- Metaphor: ReFantazio vol. 4 (Yoichi Amano / Atlus) — the manga adaptation of the Atlus RPG.
A few newer series also debut with their first volumes today: Nobuko Sezawa's Nishi Tokyo Metal Brothers, Natetsu Narita's Muteki no Subaru, and Kent Amemiya's Kaigeki no Kinato, among others.
KADOKAWA's Picks
KADOKAWA's side of the list is smaller but has its own draws. The Summer Hikaru Died vol. 9 (MokumokuRen) is the standout — the horror-drama about a boy whose best friend may have been replaced by something inhuman has built a devoted following since its serialization began. Deaimon vol. 21 (Rin Asano), the Kyoto wagashi shop slice-of-life that received an anime adaptation in 2022, also lands today.
Looking Ahead
For English-reading fans, most of the major titles on today's list are available through official channels. Chainsaw Man and Dandadan are both published in English by Viz Media, with simultaneous chapter releases on Manga Plus. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Witch Watch, Akane-banashi, and Nue's Exorcist are likewise available on Manga Plus. The Summer Hikaru Died is published in English by Yen Press, and Chained Soldier by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Volume releases in English typically trail the Japanese editions by several months, so today's batch won't hit shelves in North America for a while. But if you're importing or reading digitally in Japanese, June 4 is a good day to be a manga fan.
