Ado Brings Back the 'Odo' and 'Show' Dream Team
Ado, the vocalist behind One Piece Film: Red's chart-topping soundtrack, will perform the theme song for the live-action Blue Lock movie. The track, titled "Monstro," marks her third collaboration with the production duo Giga and TeddyLoid, who previously crafted her viral hits "Odo" and "Show."
The song's title comes from the Spanish word "monstruo," meaning monster. In a comment published by Japanese entertainment news site Comic Natalie, Ado described it as "a song about awakening the 'monster' within and pushing forward to fight harder than anyone else," calling it a natural fit for the film's themes of raw ambition. She highlighted the Latin-flavored rhythm as a new element in the collaboration.
Lyrics for "Monstro" come from ryo of supercell, the lyricist and Vocaloid pioneer best known for launching the Hatsune Miku wave with "Melt." It's a stacked creative lineup: Giga and TeddyLoid on production, ryo on words, and Ado on vocals.
Producer Shinzo Matsuhashi said the team specifically pursued Ado, asking for a track on par with "Odo" and "Show." He described the collaboration as proof of what happens when fierce creative egos collide, echoing the movie's own thesis about what "true egoists" can build together.
New Trailer Puts the Action on the Pitch
The second trailer, released alongside the theme song reveal, is packed with on-pitch action. The footage shows Blue Lock's players baring their egos in intense soccer sequences, trusting their individual strengths while ruthlessly outcompeting each other for a shot at becoming the world's greatest striker. Ado's "Monstro" scores the back half of the trailer.
A new main poster was also unveiled, centering on Isagi Yoichi surrounded by rival players consumed by their own ambitions. Advance ticket cards featuring Blue Lock artwork go on sale June 12.
The film adapts Muneyoshi Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura's manga, serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story follows Isagi, an unknown high school player gathered alongside 299 rivals at the mysterious Blue Lock facility, all competing to claw their way to the top.
Yūsuke Taki directs from a screenplay by Tetsuo Kamata. CREDEUS, the production company behind the live-action Kingdom films, handles production, with Toho distributing. Former professional soccer player Daisuke Matsui serves as soccer supervisor.
The cast is led by Fumiya Takahashi as Isagi Yoichi, with Kaito Sakurai as Bachira Meguru, Kyohei Takahashi as Chigiri Hyōma, K of &TEAM as Nagi Seishirō, and Masataka Kubota (Tokyo Ghoul) as the eccentric mastermind Ego Jinpachi. Keito Tsuna, Kōta Nomura, Yuzu Aoki, Takumi Nishigaki, Kōhei Higuchi, Yuki Kura, and Mei Hata round out the roster.
Looking Ahead
The live-action Blue Lock movie opens in Japanese theaters on August 7, 2026, distributed by Toho. No international release dates or streaming partners have been announced yet. Toho has been expanding its theatrical distribution for manga adaptations in North America and Europe in recent years, so an international rollout is plausible.
The Blue Lock manga is published in English by Kodansha USA, with volumes widely available. The anime adaptation streams on Crunchyroll, giving international fans plenty of ways to catch up before the live-action version arrives.
