A New Director Steps In for Takemichi's Last Ride
The Three Deities Arc (三天戦争編, Santen Sensō-hen) arrives with a changing of the guard behind the camera. Maki Kodaira (小平麻紀), who directed The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse, takes over as director at LIDENFILMS, the studio behind every season of the anime so far. Kōichi Hatsumi, who directed the previous seasons, stays involved in a series composition cooperation role, working alongside returning series composition writer Yasuyuki Mutō. Composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi also returns.
The theme songs are set, too. J-pop group JO1 performs the opening theme "IGNITE," and rock band go!go!vanillas handles the ending theme "TRICK STAR."
Where the Story Picks Up
According to the announcement reported by Japanese games and entertainment outlet Famitsu, the new season opens after the war between the Tokyo Manji Gang and Tenjiku has ended. Takemichi Hanagaki is left haunted by the late Tetta Kisaki, while Manjiro Sano (Mikey), who has now heard the whole story of Takemichi's time leaps, makes a decision of his own. When Takemichi returns to the present, he finally lands in the future he has been fighting for, one where his girlfriend Hinata Tachibana is alive. But someone is missing from that future, and the world has moved into the "Three Deities era," with three teams fighting for control of Tokyo. That is where Takemichi's last revenge begins.
The new key visual plays that beat straight: Takemichi clenches his fists and vows his final revenge, with Mikey standing at his back.
Ken Wakui's original manga, serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, follows former delinquent Takemichi as he stumbles into a time-leap ability and uses it to stop Hinata from being killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang. The series has more than 80 million copies in circulation and has expanded into live-action films and stage plays alongside the TV anime.
One Service, Every Episode
Walt Disney Japan is streaming the season worldwide, excluding mainland China, as a Disney+ subscription exclusive under the service's Star content brand, starting October 3, 2026. Disney+ is also the only subscription service streaming the complete Tokyo Revengers TV anime, including the previous Tenjiku Arc season, so viewers can catch up in one place before the premiere.
In Japan, the season starts a day earlier. Broadcast begins October 2, 2026, airing Fridays in the late-night Animeism block on MBS, TBS, and CBC, plus AT-X and other channels.
Looking Ahead
The Japanese broadcast premiere lands October 2, with Disney+ streaming following worldwide on October 3. Voice actor Mariya Ise is set to appear at New York Comic Con, running October 8 to 11, to promote the arc, according to Anime News Network. Mainland China is the only region left out of the Disney+ rollout; no separate regional partners are involved this time. The latest trailer is up now on the anime's official YouTube channel.
