Recording Has Already Started, and the Ad-Libs Are Flying
The most encouraging detail in the announcement isn't the year. It's that the cast is already in the booth. In the comment video reported by Japanese entertainment news site Dengeki Online, Ryōta Ōsaka (Gyutaro in Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc, Marco Bodt in Attack on Titan) revealed that recording for Season 2 has begun. He also admitted the renewal wasn't a total surprise on his end: at the Season 1 wrap party, he'd been told a second season could happen depending on staff schedules, so he was glad to finally be able to announce it publicly.
As in Season 1, much of Ōsaka's recording time is spent trading lines with Tomokazu Seki (Gilgamesh in the Fate series), who returns as Greed, the talking sword strapped to Fate's back. Ōsaka says Seki brings a heavy dose of ad-libs to the sessions, and that he's been answering with improvisations of his own. Whether those exchanges make the final cut or get trimmed entirely, he says, is something even he won't know until he sees the finished episodes.
He closed the video with a nod to the wider ensemble, saying the cast, both weekly guests and familiar regulars, is performing "with everything they've got, heart and soul."
A Skill-Stealing Dark Fantasy With 2.2 Million Copies in Print
Berserk of Gluttony is set in a world where the skill you're born with decides your entire life. Protagonist Fate Graphite draws Gluttony, a skill that appears to do nothing but make him hungry, and lives at the bottom of society because of it. That changes the day he kills an intruder at the castle and discovers Gluttony's real function: it steals the skills and abilities of anyone he kills. Soon after, he meets Greed, a sentient sword carrying a deadly-sin skill of its own, and the scorned nobody starts climbing. Season 1 also spent much of its run on Fate's struggle to protect the holy knight Roxy while wrestling with a power that could just as easily destroy him.
The source is a light novel series by Isshiki Ichika that started on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, Japan's largest web novel platform, before Micro Magazine picked it up for its GC Novels imprint. A manga adaptation by Daisuke Takino runs in Micro Magazine's Comic Ride, and the franchise has passed 2.2 million copies in circulation, according to the announcement carried by Dengeki Online.
The first season aired from October to December 2023, directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa at studio A.C.G.T. Season 2 itself was announced back in April 2026 alongside a new key visual; today's news pins the broadcast to 2027. No staff or studio has been confirmed for the new season yet.
Looking Ahead
The next thing to watch for is a specific premiere window. "2027" is all we have, and the announcement promises further updates to come, which usually means a season window, staff list, and key visual will roll out over the coming months.
On the international side, nothing is confirmed for Season 2 yet. Crunchyroll streamed Season 1 as it aired and carries an English dub, which makes it the natural home for the sequel, but no streaming partner has been announced.
