Gen Sato and Yurina Amami Join as Uzu and Dr. Radio
The two new cast members, announced through a round of updates reported by Japanese anime news site Anime! Anime!, land on very different emotional registers. Yurina Amami (天海由梨奈), who voiced Kazuki Mikadono in Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze, plays Dr. Radio, a character the announcement describes as deeply tied to the story. Amami paints her as blunt, awkward with people, and a little short on exercise, yet deeply affectionate underneath it all, supporting everyone around her in her own clumsy way.
Gen Sato (Chrome in Dr. Stone, Kou Yamori in Call of the Night) takes on Uzu, and his comment reads less like standard casting-release copy and more like a confession. He says he felt from the audition stage that he was the only person who could stay close to this character, and that preparing the role meant digging through the memories he least wanted to revisit: his own regrets, jealousy, and self-destructive stretches. He calls Uzu a role he put his entire life into, part of what he describes as a sweeping, strangely human story about searching for every kind of love.
The series is being recorded prescore-style, with the voices laid down before the animation is drawn around them. Amami called the sessions a constant run of challenges and discoveries, and said the team's intensity kept climbing with every recording.
Polygon Pictures Animates a Hitman's Violent Rehab
Tank Chair adapts Manabu Yashiro's manga of the same name, serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine. The setup: Nagi Taira was the strongest hitman in the business until he took a bullet protecting his little sister Shizuka, and he has not regained consciousness since. The one thing that wakes him is killing intent aimed his way. Shizuka is convinced that a truly exceptional dose of it will bring her brother all the way back, so she wheels him from one dangerous opponent to the next in fights the story frames as rehab. The wheelchair in question is the armed, transforming tank chair of the title.
Naohiro "Tady" Yoshihira directs and handles series composition and scripts, coming off the Star Wars: Visions Vol. 3 short "The Bird of Paradise" and Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars. Hiroaki Ando, whose credits include Kaina of the Great Snow Sea and Ajin, joins him as co-director and co-writer. Animation production sits with Polygon Pictures, the studio behind Knights of Sidonia and Marvel's Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Yuki Moriyama handles character designs, and Masaru Yokoyama composes the music.
The new key visual gathers the core cast: Nagi with Shizuka at his side, his former classmate Naozumi Kurosaka, who carries an open rivalry toward Nagi and fights alongside his own sister and partner Touko, with Uzu and the enigmatic Sensei looming in the back. Koki Uchiyama voices Nagi, Minori Fujidera plays Shizuka, Gakuto Kajiwara is Naozumi, and Saori Hayami rounds out the leads as Touko. Veterans Nobuyuki Hiyama, Hochu Otsuka, and Tetsu Inada fill the supporting ranks, while the official cast list still credits Sensei's voice actor only as "???".
SiM's "DALALA" and Daoko's "SYNC" Bookend Each Episode
The main trailer, up now on the Bandai Namco Filmworks YouTube channel, runs its barrage of tank-chair action over the newly announced opening theme: "DALALA" by SiM, the four-piece band behind "The Rumbling" from Attack on Titan The Final Season. The band says the song took shape as they tried to capture the series' chaotic world in music and lyrics, and that the track has already become a crowd favorite at live shows despite not being released yet. Because of the prescore recording, the trailer's dialogue is the cast's actual in-series performance rather than temp audio.
Daoko handles the ending theme, "SYNC," made with creator Sasuke Haraguchi. She wrote the lyrics with Nagi and Shizuka's relationship in mind, and describes the song as a calm, chill track meant to soak up the afterglow of each episode's fights.
Looking Ahead
Tank Chair premieres Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. on Tokyo-area broadcaster TOKYO MX, with BS11 following the same night at 12:30 a.m. CBC starts October 5 and MBS on October 6, per the broadcast rundown from Anime! Anime!. No international streaming partner has been announced yet.
