Inside the Season 3 Trailer

The new footage opens with Akane's voice: "I'm sorry, Ryoga-kun..." From there, the trailer shifts to Ryoga mastering the Bakusai Tenketsu, the Breaking Point technique that lets him shatter boulders by striking their structural weak point. The trailer builds from the training sequence to an all-out brawl between Ranma and Ryoga.

The trailer's second half introduces several new characters making their Season 3 debut, with their voices revealed for the first time. The footage also previews the romantic rivalries ahead, showing the tangled relationships between Ranma, Akane, and Ryoga alongside rivals vying for their attention. Full details on the new characters and their voice cast are coming in a future announcement.

MAPPA Marks 15 Years With Ranma

The trailer premiered during the 15th anniversary lineup reveal from MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man), streamed on the studio's YouTube channel on June 19. MAPPA has produced the new Ranma 1/2 adaptation since it launched in 2024, bringing Rumiko Takahashi's 1987 manga back to television for the first time in decades.

Director Kōnosuke Uda returns at the helm for Season 3. Before Ranma, Uda directed the first 278 episodes of One Piece. Head writer Kimiko Ueno and character designer Hiromi Taniguchi also return, along with chief animation directors Yoshiko Saitō, Kōsuke Kawamura, Riko Kaneda, and Haruki Miura.

Three of the show's leads joined the anniversary stream for a special talk segment about Season 3: Kappei Yamaguchi (Ranma Saotome), Noriko Hidaka (Akane Tendo), and Kōichi Yamadera (Ryoga Hibiki). The full conversation is archived on MAPPA's YouTube channel.

The returning voice cast is extensive, carrying over every major player from Seasons 1 and 2. Megumi Hayashibara voices female Ranma, with Minami Takayama as Nabiki Tendo, Rei Sakuma as Shampoo, Toshihiko Seki as Mousse, Kaori Nazuka as Ukyo Kuonji, Tomokazu Sugita as Tatewaki Kuno, Ayane Sakura as Kodachi Kuno, and Mamoru Miyano as Mikado Sanzenin.

Ranma 1/2 follows Ranma Saotome, a martial artist cursed to transform into a girl when splashed with cold water and back with hot water. Engaged to Akane Tendo by their parents, Ranma navigates school life, martial arts battles, and a growing crowd of romantic rivals in Takahashi's slapstick action-comedy.

Looking Ahead

Ranma 1/2 Season 3 premieres in October 2026 on NTV in Japan, with Netflix handling exclusive international streaming. The series adapts Takahashi's manga, originally published by Shogakukan in its Shonen Sunday Comics line. The complete manga is available in English from Viz Media for fans looking to read ahead.

With new character details and voice cast reveals still pending, further announcements are expected before the October premiere.
