Deku the Sheep, Bakugo the Dog: Meet the Animal Lineup
The line reimagines four Class 1-A leads as animals, each with a punny katakana name: Izuku Midoriya becomes Deku Sheep, Katsuki Bakugo becomes Bakudog, Ochaco Uraraka turns into the cat Ochaneko, and Shoto Todoroki rounds out the set as Shortcat. According to Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, the designs span four product types, all up for preorder now at the official online store of eyeup, the toy and character-goods maker behind the release.
The entry point is the Nemuri Tai, a small plush whose line name puns on nemuritai, Japanese for "I want to sleep." It comes in three designs (Deku Sheep, Bakudog, and Shortcat) at 1,760 yen each, roughly $12. From there the line scales up. A plush pen pouch runs 3,300 yen (about $22) and a plush pouch runs 3,190 yen (about $21); both come in all four animal designs. The biggest item is the Nuinui Bag, a large tote measuring roughly 35 by 42 centimeters, priced at 5,500 yen (about $37) in the Deku Sheep, Bakudog, and Shortcat designs.
Cat-form Ochaco is the rarest of the four. Ochaneko only appears on the pen pouch and the pouch, so anyone chasing the full quartet will want to start there.
The Plush Line Lands in My Hero Academia's Anniversary Year
My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi's hero-action manga serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, wrapped its roughly ten-year run in August 2024. The story is set in a world where superpowers called Quirks are the norm, and follows Izuku Midoriya, better known as Deku, as he trains at the elite hero school U.A. High to stand up to villains who abuse those powers.
The anime outlasted the manga by more than a year. The eighth and final season, My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON, aired its finale on December 13, 2025, closing the TV series at 170 episodes. 2026 marks ten years since the anime's April 2016 debut, and the commemorative "My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary" project has been rolling out events throughout the year. The animal plush line arrives right in the middle of that anniversary stretch.
Looking Ahead
Preorders for all four product types are open now through eyeup's official online store, and the items reach retail shops across Japan on a rolling basis from September 2026. The Anime Anime report doesn't mention any overseas release, so international fans will probably need a proxy shipping service to get their hands on a Bakudog.
The franchise itself is easy to catch up on outside Japan. Viz Media publishes the complete manga in English, and the anime, including FINAL SEASON, streams on Crunchyroll.
