Magilumiere and Asto Finally Stop Competing
The finale synopsis, published by Japanese anime news site eeo Media on September 25 alongside a set of preview stills, spends most of its length on a business decision rather than a fight. As the combat escalates, Magilumiere and Asto commit to what the synopsis puts in quotation marks: a “collaboration,” the corporate register this series has always used for magical-girl work. Shigemoto's call hands Asto full access to the Alice System, Magilumiere's in-house magic technology, and magical girls from both companies then try to construct a combined spell out of it.
That is a reversal for a show whose first season positioned Asto as the well-funded giant Magilumiere could not match on budget, headcount, or data. The synopsis does not say what the combined spell is actually aimed at.
Mei Tsuchiba Is the One in Trouble
The other beat the synopsis flags is Tsuchiba, Asto's ace and the most ruthlessly efficient magical girl in the cast, coming close to losing control of her magic. The synopsis gives no cause. Chika Anzai voices Tsuchiba, whose data-first approach to anomaly extermination has been the cleanest contrast all season to Kana Sakuragi's improvised, memory-driven style.
The episode title, “I'm Glad I Became a Magical Girl,” lands differently after episode 11, “A Job Done With Resignation Is Worthless.” eeo's write-up on that episode described rationality and conviction colliding on a battlefield that had stopped being a routine extermination job. The finale synopsis closes on every character walking into one more fight carrying new relationships and new values.
Eleven Episodes of Corporate Magical-Girl Work
Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. treats magical-girl work as a licensed profession with clients, paperwork, and overtime. Kana Sakuragi is a job hunter striking out on every interview. That changes when she helps veteran magical girl Hitomi Koshigaya during an anomaly attack and gets hired at Magilumiere, a startup whose male CEO, Shigemoto, wears the company costume himself. Sekka Iwata wrote the manga with art by Yu Aoki, and Japanese publisher Shueisha ran it on its Shonen Jump+ app from October 2021 to July 2025, for 18 collected volumes.
Season 2 is animated at J.C.Staff alone, after Moe co-produced the 2024 first season. Riki Fukushima directs, with Michiko Yokote on series composition and scripts, Masahiro Fujii on character design, and Makoto Miyazaki on music. syudou and FANTASTICS vocalist Yusei Yagi perform the opening theme, “Latte Magic,” while Hololive VTuber Houshou Marine sings the ending theme, “BooooM!!!”
Fairouz Ai (Jolyne Cujoh in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean) returns as Kana, with Rikiya Koyama as Shigemoto, Chika Anzai as Tsuchiba, and Akira Ishida as Asto CEO Kei Koga. Mariko Higashiuchi plays Hitomi this season, taking over the role from Yumiri Hanamori.
Looking Ahead
Episode 12 airs Saturday, September 26 at 24:55 on NTV, which in practice means the small hours of September 27. It is the season's 12th episode and the anime's 24th overall.
Amazon Prime Video holds global streaming rights and has carried the series since the first season, so international viewers get the finale on the same weekend as Japan. The manga is available in English from Viz Media, which began releasing volumes in March 2024. Shueisha's Manga Plus app carries chapters as well, so the full 18-volume ending is already readable. No third season has been announced.
