First-week audiences for Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi, Part 1 of the Made in Abyss theatrical series, will receive a mini shikishi art board newly drawn by original creator Akihito Tsukushi, eiga.com reported on October 19, 2026. A new mini anime, Himesama Nikki, will also screen after the film as a bonus for audiences to watch.
The shikishi will be handed out from October 23 to 29. Each attendee receives one of two designs at random, and an Animate Times article notes that the design cannot be chosen.
Himesama Nikki is based on an April Fools' illustration of the same name released on April 1, 2026. The short follows the daily life of Faputa, called "Narehate no Hime" (成れ果ての姫) in the announcement. Because it plays after the main feature, Animate Times asks audiences to remain seated until the end.
The announcements were made in "Made in Abyss Maruwakari! Abyss Tankutsu Guide!", a program now available on the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel. According to eiga.com's film listing, Mezameru Shinpi opens in theaters on October 23, 2026, and runs 71 minutes.
