A TV anime adaptation of Aki Irie's manga Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest (北北西に曇と往け) will begin airing on TBS in 2027, with worldwide exclusive streaming planned on Netflix, animeanime reported on October 9, 2026. Tomohiro Ono voices the protagonist, Kei Miyama, and a key visual and the first promotional video were released with the announcement.
Takashi Sano serves as chief director and series composition writer, Yosuke Kubo directs, and Chikashi Kubota is character designer. Qzil.la handles animation production.
The manga follows Kei Miyama, a 17-year-old living at Land's End, 64 degrees north in Iceland, who has three secrets: he can talk to cars, he is bad with girls, and he works as a detective. Driving his Jimny, he takes on cases that range from bringing back a runaway pet dog to tracking down a person someone fell for at first sight. The manga has surpassed 1.6 million copies in circulation, animeanime reports. Vertical Comics publishes the series in English, per Penguin Random House's listing for volume 7.
The key visual shows Kei looking ahead against Iceland's expansive landscape, in a design that recalls the cover of the manga's first volume. The PV follows him driving his Jimny along a straight road through open countryside.
Ono described Kei as calm and composed, saying the character can seem a little unfriendly but also has a kindness that won't let him leave someone in trouble. He said the appeal of the work lies in Iceland's majestic nature and the mystery surrounding the characters, and called its depiction of emotions and scenery very delicate.
