Episode 1216 of the TV anime Detective Conan aired in Japan on October 10, 2026, from 18:00 to 18:30 JST, bringing a serial murder case told over three weeks to a close. The episode also moved the long-running relationship between Heiji Hattori and Kazuha Toyama forward, and fans posted to celebrate the pair on social media, Anime Anime reported.

The rest of this article describes how the episode ends.

The episode, "Akaneiro no Senshūraku" (茜色の千秋楽(大楽)), adapts a story collected in volume 106 of Gosho Aoyama's manga. It is set around the Naniwa Art Theater in Osaka, where an actor falls to his death and the body is left posed like a marionette, with an eerie message reading, in translation, "I am the puppet devil." A second and third victim follow.

Heiji had decided to tell Kazuha how he felt after hearing that the observation floor of Naniwa Harukas is known as a scenic spot for confessions at sunset. With Shinichi Kudo's confession to Ran Mouri in front of Big Ben in London on his mind, he declared that an Osakan has to settle things in Osaka, and asked Kazuha out. The investigation kept him busy, and Conan expected the confession to fail. Instead, Kazuha went to Naniwa Harukas, Heiji told her how he felt, and Ran and Kazuha's mother watched the two come down from the observation deck holding hands.

Mai Kuraki's "Togetsukyō Kimi Omou" played over the scene. The song was the theme for the 2017 Detective Conan film that put Heiji and Kazuha's relationship at its center, which TMS Entertainment lists in English as Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter.

Among the posts Anime Anime collected were, in translation, "Heiji and Kazuha, congratulations," "Finally, this day has finally come" and "Do you know how many years we waited?"
