A Two-Shot Fans Didn't See Coming
Inosuke Hashibira, the boar-headed brawler of the Demon Slayer Corps, and Shinobu Kocho, the soft-spoken Insect Hashira, almost never appear together in official artwork. So when ufotable CHARACTERS Cafe IKEBUKURO posted the new illustrations on its official X account, Japanese fans noticed immediately. Japanese entertainment news outlet Oricon News rounded up the reactions, which included "what an unexpected combination," "the Shinobu and Inosuke pairing feels really fresh," and one flustered "wait wait wait wait wait, that was a sneak attack."
The second piece features Zenitsu Agatsuma on his own. Fans had thoughts on him too. One commenter wrote that he looks like he's happily chatting away in the illustration, while another jokingly asked the café to give Zenitsu a duo partner of his own.
Inside Ufotable's New Flagship Café
The illustrations come from ufotable CHARACTERS Cafe IKEBUKURO, the flagship location of the studio's café brand, which opened in Ikebukuro on August 8, 2026. Since ufotable is the studio that animates Demon Slayer, the café's monthly art comes straight from the source.
That monthly cycle is the whole pitch. In the announcement quoted by Oricon, the café said it delivers new illustrations along with a refreshed lineup of offerings from the 1st of every month. For September, that means the Inosuke and Shinobu two-shot, the solo Zenitsu piece, and a new round of kuji-style lottery prizes and merchandise built around them.
Looking Ahead
The new illustrations, prize draws, and goods go live at the Ikebukuro café on September 1, 2026. Nothing has been announced about international availability. Ufotable does run a global web shop for its merchandise, but there's no word yet on whether September's café items will show up there.
The monthly rotation also means this lineup is temporary. October 1 brings the next set of illustrations, and the café hasn't hinted at which characters are up next.
