Attack on Titan 3 producer Hideo Suzuki (鈴木英生) expects a straight run through the game's story to take roughly 30 to 40 hours, according to a Dengeki Online interview published October 29, 2026. Completing all side content and expeditions outside the walls would probably take 60 to 70 hours or more, he said.
The game covers the story through the end of the anime, but Suzuki said the team did not want to simply repeat the early chapters players saw in Attack on Titan 2. That game's protagonist was a peer of Eren and Mikasa in the 104th cadet class. The new original protagonist is a Survey Corps soldier from a generation closer to Erwin, Hange and Levi, and becomes a mentor to the 104th class after a major setback at the start of the game.
The game has no what-if routes or story branches. Suzuki said it follows the anime's storyline, while the protagonist's own struggles and ending are original to the game. The protagonist also won't suddenly fight as a soldier on the Marley side, a situation Suzuki said the team deliberately avoided inventing.
Asked about the theory that a character from the previous game, referred to only as "he," survived, Suzuki left the answer to players' imagination. A soldier who has inherited the same name appears as a scout character but does not directly tie into the main story.
Other details from the interview:
- Visuals: The art moves from the earlier cel-shaded look toward a more photorealistic texture, mainly to make the Titans more frightening.
- Nine Titans: Battles recreate each Titan's distinctive movements and attacks from the anime. The Warhammer Titan attacks with a bow and arrows as well as a hammer, while the Jaw Titan runs on all fours and bites.
- Room conversations: A new feature lets players invite a favorite character to the protagonist's room for a one-on-one talk, with appropriate dialogue choices leading to deeper conversations.
Attack on Titan 3 is scheduled to release December 10, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, according to Koei Tecmo America. Dengeki Online lists the standard edition, packaged or download, at ¥9,680 including tax.
