Williams' Pop-Culture Arm Adds a Third Chapter
The Atlassian Williams F1 Team x Dandadan crossover has been rolling out in stages since April, when it launched at the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka under the tagline "Speed Meets Supernatural." In July the project moved to Los Angeles for Anime Expo, where Williams showed a full-size car in a one-off Dandadan livery along with a collaboration merchandise line. Music is the third stage.
Dandadan supplies the supernatural half of that tagline. Yukinobu Tatsu's series follows a girl who believes in ghosts and a boy who believes in aliens, and both of them turn out to be right. Williams supplies the speed: founded in 1977, the team has nine constructors' championships, seven drivers' championships and 114 Grand Prix wins, making it the third most successful outfit in Formula 1 history.
The project sits under Sector Zero, Williams' official pop-culture program, which UNDONE Lab, a Tokyo-based creative and collaboration team, plans and runs end to end. Sector Zero exists to connect the team with audiences who do not otherwise follow motorsport, and Dandadan is its opening chapter.
TZUYU Steps Into the Project
TZUYU is a Taiwanese artist who performs with TWICE and launched a solo career in September 2024 with the mini album abouTZU. The six-track release peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart, led by the single "Run Away."
The Williams track is not an existing song repurposed for a campaign. According to the announcement issued through PR TIMES, it is a completely original composition produced for the collaboration, and an original music video built around the same world has already been greenlit. The song title, the release date and the video details are all still unannounced.
Luke Timmins, Williams' merchandise and licensing director, said there was only one voice the team could imagine for a collaboration celebrating supernatural speed, and framed TZUYU's involvement as a route to fans outside motorsport. Hiroshi Kamei, producer on the Dandadan TV anime at Japanese broadcaster MBS, said the tie-up lets the series carry its speed and energy to people who would not normally reach it through anime. TZUYU herself said that bringing together Formula 1, anime and music "makes this project unique."
Sayako Niimi, Sector Zero's director and lead for global partnerships, said TZUYU's voice gives the collaboration its heartbeat, and closed by noting that this is still only the beginning.
KOKONE Fronts the Singapore Merch Drop
The music news comes with a limited apparel drop, on sale from September 28 through October 14. The four T-shirt designs come as blind boxes, so buyers only find out which one they got after opening the package. Buying a shirt also unlocks a separate special polo shirt.
The line features KOKONE, which Williams describes as an anomaly character from the universe created for this partnership rather than a face pulled from the manga. The items are available online and at Fan Zone presented by Kraken, the team's trackside pop-up, so fans in Singapore can handle them in person.
Looking Ahead
TZUYU appears at the Singapore Grand Prix, which runs October 9 to 11 at Marina Bay, where Williams will reveal the next phase of the collaboration. The theme song follows in early 2027, positioned around the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. Sector Zero says release, event and members-only details will go out through its membership platform first.
Dandadan has a busy 2027 of its own. Season 3 is scheduled to air that year with Science SARU returning to animate, though only a teaser visual has surfaced so far and no promo video has been released. The manga runs in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app, where it has passed a billion cumulative views, and the collected volumes have cleared 14 million copies in circulation. English readers can follow it in print from Viz Media and digitally on Viz's Shonen Jump service and Shueisha's MANGA Plus. The first two anime seasons stream on Netflix, which named Dandadan its most-watched TV anime of the second half of 2025.
