Imperial Generals and a New Face in the Ranks

The second main trailer for Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 shifts focus from the titular child soldier to the Imperial Army's strategic command. Generals Zettour and Rudersdorf take center stage, with the trailer teasing what role they'll play in the Empire's wartime future. Studio NUT returns for production.

The trailer also introduces Calandro (カランドロ), a new character voiced by Eiji Hanawa (Jiren in Dragon Ball Super). Nothing about the character's role has been disclosed beyond his appearance in the trailer.

Tanya Takes the Mic

Both theme songs get their first audio preview in the new trailer. MYTH & ROID, who performed Season 1's opening "JINGO JUNGLE," return with a new OP titled "Why? RED induction."

The bigger reveal is the ending theme. "Weiter! Weiter!" (German for "onward, onward") is performed in-character by Aoi Yūki (Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia) as Tanya Degurechaff. Lyrics are by hotaru, with sound production from Masayuki Nakano of BOOM BOOM SATELLITES and THE SPELLBOUND.

Nakano said he built the track around "the cruelty of the battlefield and a sliver of hope left for humanity." He noted that a prevailing sense of powerlessness and directionlessness in the world today made the music feel resonant, and praised Aoi Yūki's vocal performance as "overwhelming," saying it gave him strength during production. Both the OP and ED will hit music streaming services on July 15, 2026. The ED single's jacket art was also revealed alongside the trailer.

Looking Ahead

Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 premieres July 8, 2026, on TOKYO MX and BS11. Takayuki Yamamoto directs, with Kenta Ihara handling series composition.

Crunchyroll has confirmed the simulcast for international audiences. Carlo Zen's military fantasy light novel series, which has surpassed 12 million copies in circulation, is published in English by Yen Press with 14 volumes available.

To build momentum before the premiere, the Saga of Tanya the Evil movie and side story "Operation Desert Pasta" (砂漠のパスタ大作戦) aired on Japanese terrestrial TV for the first time on July 1. A special pre-premiere analysis program airs on AT-X, a Japanese anime channel, on July 11 and streams on the KADOKAWA Anime YouTube channel on July 12.
