What the Exhibition Offers

The Parasyte Exhibition (寄生獣展) is shaping up to be a serious pilgrimage for fans of Hitoshi Iwaaki's sci-fi horror classic. The show will display over 400 original manuscript pages from the manga, giving attendees a rare look at Iwaaki's linework in its raw, unprinted form.

The newly revealed key visual sets the tone for what Comic Natalie reports is also bringing a wave of new merchandise — the exhibition's third batch of goods.

The Art Book: 'Parasyte Exhibition Original Illustrations'

The standout announcement is a 206-page book titled Parasyte Exhibition Original Illustrations. It collects the manuscripts displayed at the exhibition alongside congratulatory color illustrations (shikishi) contributed by 21 manga artists — a previous report confirmed names including Hajime Isayama (Attack on Titan) and voice actor Nobunaga Shimazaki among the 25 contributors whose color papers will be displayed.

For collectors, this is essentially the exhibition in book form — a way to take the show home.

Historie Anime Merchandise

In an interesting crossover, the venue will also sell merchandise for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Historie — another Iwaaki work. The source article notes these goods are being sold "ahead of the broadcast," confirming the Historie anime is on the horizon. Available items include clear files, a T-shirt, and a mug.

For international fans unfamiliar with Historie, it's Iwaaki's long-running historical manga following Eumenes, a secretary to Alexander the Great. It's been serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine since 2003 and is widely considered one of the best seinen manga of its generation.

Looking Ahead

The Parasyte Exhibition runs for just over two weeks, so anyone planning a trip to Yokohama will want to book soon — especially given the limited-quantity Migi finger puppet that comes with admission.

For international fans, Parasyte's manga is available in English from Kodansha USA (published as Parasyte), making it easy to revisit the source material before or after seeing the originals. The Historie anime broadcast date has not been announced, but the merchandise presence at this exhibition suggests news may follow soon.

No English-language streaming partner has been confirmed for Historie's anime adaptation yet.
