Nobara's Shibuya Walk
The newly drawn illustration, titled "MAPPA 15th Anniversary Key Visual, Jujutsu Kaisen ver," depicts Nobara Kugisaki (釘崎野薔薇) stepping out of a tunnel into the darkness of nighttime Shibuya. Japanese music and entertainment site Oricon News reported that the image shows Nobara walking powerfully through the Shibuya darkness "toward what she believes in," her unwavering gaze conveying inner strength and unshakeable conviction.
Fans of the anime will recognize Shibuya as the setting of Nobara's most pivotal scene in Season 2. Placing her back in that district for MAPPA's anniversary portrait adds weight to the image.
The art was created specifically for the anniversary, with illustration by Hiromi Niwa, digital paint by Junya Suzuki, background art by Anri Maeda, and composite by Teppei Ito.
Three Characters, One Theme
MAPPA rolled out the anniversary visuals across three consecutive days, each spotlighting a character from one of the studio's flagship series:
- June 16: Reze from the upcoming Chainsaw Man movie, walking from a dark alley toward the light
- June 17: Mikasa from Attack on Titan: The Final Season, standing among flowers on a sunlit hillside
- June 18: Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen, stepping through a Shibuya tunnel into the night
All three visuals share a motif of forward movement. Reze heads toward light, Mikasa stands bathed in sunlight after years of war, and Nobara pushes through darkness. MAPPA chose three female characters from its biggest franchises, and all three images convey resolve.
The Lineup Reveal Event
The visual series leads directly into MAPPA's main anniversary event: the "MAPPA 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal," streaming June 19 at 8:00 PM JST on the studio's official YouTube channel. Voice actor Kenjirō Tsuda (Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh!) hosts the broadcast, with Kotono Mitsuishi (Usagi Tsukino in Sailor Moon) providing narration.
The source article confirms new reveals for Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Ranma 1/2, and Oblivion Battery (忘却バッテリー), along with cast-led special segments and at least one entirely new project announcement. MAPPA will also premiere its 15th Anniversary Movie, set to "Seikatsu" (Life), an original track written for the occasion by the band PEOPLE 1.
Anime Corner has published a detailed schedule for the roughly two-hour broadcast, which includes additional segments for Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Dorohedoro. Voice actors Junya Enoki (Itadori) and Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu) open the event in a Jujutsu Kaisen "Juju Talk" segment.
Looking Ahead
All three seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen are available to international viewers on Crunchyroll. The lineup reveal streams free on YouTube with no sign-up required. The June 19 broadcast should deliver updates across the studio's biggest active titles, including what could be the first details on a potential Jujutsu Kaisen continuation beyond the Culling Game arc.
