The Torn Mask, the Black Whip, and a Crying Face
Dark Deku is the fan nickname for Izuku Midoriya during the period when he left his classmates behind and fought alone, and this figure commits fully to that look. According to the report from Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, the sculpt and paintwork reproduce the damage and grime his costume picked up in battle, right down to the shredded details.
The expression work is the headline feature here. The mask parts support two different expressions, one of them the crying face teased in the product announcement, and the figure can also be displayed mask-off with a swappable bangs part. Deku's Black Whip rig on his back has articulation points built in, so collectors can pose the tendrils for the kind of dynamic action the character used constantly during this arc.
The full package includes the figure itself, three pairs of interchangeable hands, two expression parts, the spare bangs part, one replacement mask part, and the complete Black Whip parts set. It stands about 140mm (roughly 5.5 inches) tall and is made of PVC and ABS.
How the Second Preorder Round Works
This is a second round of preorders sold through the Tamashii Web Shop, the collector storefront inside Premium Bandai, Bandai Namco Group's official web store. The price is ¥12,100 with tax included, and second-round orders are scheduled to ship in March 2027.
Preorders for the first run opened July 28, 2026 with a January 2027 release, per Tamashii Nations' official S.H.Figuarts site. Missing the first window costs second-round buyers about two extra months of waiting.
Ten Years of My Hero Academia, Still Going
The merch push lands in the middle of a packed anniversary year. Kohei Horikoshi's original manga ran for ten years in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and the collected volumes have passed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. The story is set in a world where about 80% of the population has some kind of superpower, called a Quirk, and follows Deku and his U.A. High School classmates as they train to become professional heroes and protect people from Villains who abuse their powers.
The anime side wrapped its main run with 2025's FINAL SEASON, closing out at 170 episodes across 8 seasons since the April 2016 premiere, plus four theatrical films. Since April 2026, the franchise has been running its 10th-anniversary project, "My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary." That has already produced the May special episode No.170+1 "More," which animated the bonus chapter from the final manga volume, and the short "I am a hero too," adapted from a fanbook one-shot, which began streaming August 3.
Looking Ahead
Second-round Dark Deku orders ship in March 2027 through the Tamashii Web Shop in Japan. Western collectors have an official route too: Tamashii Nations lists Dark Deku on its English-language S.H.Figuarts site with a purchase link through Amazon, so this release is not locked to Japanese proxies.
On the anime side, the "I am a hero too" short is streaming internationally on Crunchyroll with both subtitles and an English dub. The complete manga is available in English from Viz Media for readers who want to revisit the arc this figure comes from before it arrives.
