A Big Second Act for the "Magia" Trio
Kalafina started in 2008 as the vocal project of composer Yuki Kajiura, with Wakana, Keiko, and Hikaru layering the three-part harmonies that carried theme songs for a long run of anime. Their signature track is still "Magia," the 2011 ending theme for Puella Magi Madoka Magica. The group disbanded in March 2019, then came back together for Kalafina Anniversary LIVE 2025 at Tokyo Garden Theater in January 2025, their first concert in seven years.
The Kyoto booking, announced in a PR TIMES release on August 13, continues that reunion story with what organizers describe as a special solo concert tailored to the anime-festival setting.
All three members shared comments in the release. Wakana noted this is Kalafina's first time at KYOMAF MUSIC LIVE and that the group marks its 18th anniversary this year, saying she wants to sing with gratitude for every song and every work Kalafina has been part of since debut. Keiko, who called an anime festival "a space overflowing with love for the works that color people's lives," said she is preparing a set of songs from the series the group connected with across its career. Hikaru said she is honored to perform at the first-ever edition of the event and hopes to convey the worlds and music of the works the group has been involved with.
Two Nights at ROHM Theatre Kyoto
KYOMAF MUSIC LIVE 2026 carries the subtitle "two special days where anime and music intersect," and that is the pitch: live performances plus stage collaborations with anime titles, running September 19 and 20 at the ROHM Theatre Kyoto Main Hall. The event is timed to the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KYOMAF), the city's big September anime and manga event, which takes place on the same two days.
Kalafina's stage is Saturday, September 19, with doors at 5:30 p.m. and a 6:30 p.m. start. Night two, on September 20, belongs to T.N.T, the band fronted by vocalist Yuya Tegoshi (doors 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. start). One practical note for anyone pairing the concerts with the fair: you don't need a KYOMAF admission ticket to attend either show.
Tickets and On-Sale Dates
Both concerts are priced the same, with reserved seats at ¥6,500 and U-22 seats at ¥5,500, tax included, sold through Japan's Lawson Ticket service.
For Kalafina's show, the fan club lottery opened August 13 and runs through August 20. A social-media advance lottery follows from August 21 to August 28, and a general advance lottery runs August 21 through September 2. T.N.T's official advance lottery ran August 8 to 16, with general advance sales open since August 17. General sales for both nights start September 5 at 10:00 a.m. JST. Kalafina's show requires a ticket from age six, and children five and under can't attend.
Looking Ahead
The next date that matters is September 5, when general ticket sales open for both nights, followed by the concerts themselves on September 19 and 20. Nothing has been announced about a stream or recorded release for either show, in Japan or internationally, so for now this is an in-person event. Set details and any on-stage anime collaborations should be posted to the official event site as the dates get closer.
