Imagica Infos announced on October 21, 2026, that the TV anime Haru to Gen: 70-sai, Hajimete no Kosodate will premiere on tvk (TV Kanagawa) on Monday, January 4, 2027, at 9:55 p.m. JST. The company also revealed the main cast and released a teaser trailer, according to a PR TIMES release.

Bin Shimada voices Gen, Hiromi Igarashi voices Haru, and Mayuko Kazama voices Sakura.

The anime adapts a KADOKAWA vertical-scroll comic. Gen, a rigid 70-year-old, takes in his 3-year-old granddaughter Haru, left behind by his late daughter. Years earlier, Gen put work ahead of his family, and his wife and daughter left him. He has lived alone since then, and life with Haru keeps catching him off guard. The teaser focuses on the chaotic everyday life of the clumsy grandfather and his carefree granddaughter.

The series is part of Animation ID, a joint project between Imagica Infos and Dai Nippon Printing (DNP). The release says the anime is scheduled to broadcast and stream from January 2027 but does not name any streaming platforms. Animation production is by Imagica Infos / Imageworks Studio, and bermei.inazawa is composing the music.

The official website opened on October 21. The anime's official X account (@haruandgen) is also running a follow-and-repost campaign through October 31, 2026. Two winners will receive volume 1 of the original comic signed by Shimada, Igarashi and Kazama.
