The official X account for the TV anime Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri) posted a congratulatory illustration by Tsukasa Abe, the artist of the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End manga, on October 9, 2026, hours before the series premiered, according to an ORICON NEWS report. The account thanked Abe for the illustration and said the broadcast would begin at 23:30 JST that night.
Oricon cited online reactions to the illustration, including one post that praised "the warmth that comes through the art" (translated).
Firefly Wedding adapts Oreco Tachibana's manga of the same name. Oricon describes it as a story of forbidden love set in the Meiji era, between a noblewoman who dreams of marrying into a prominent family and becoming her father's pride, and the assassin who dotes on her. Oricon also reports that a live-action adaptation has been announced.
The anime airs Fridays at 23:30 JST on Fuji TV's nationwide noitamina block, according to the anime's official site.
