A new anime, Dr.STONE TERRAFORMING, is in production, announced on October 10, 2026 at the STONE FES.2026 event, according to an Oricon News report. It continues the story of the Dr.STONE anime series and adapts "TERRAFORMING," the sequel episode set after the conclusion of the main story and collected in volume 27 of the original manga.
The reveal PV was shown on a large screen at the venue and posted to the TOHO animation YouTube channel. In it, a storm with violent lightning breaks suddenly over the record of scientific crafting that Senku and his companions have built up. A newly recorded Senku line, "唆るぜ、これは" (sosoru ze, kore wa), plays as the TERRAFORMING title appears.
Congratulatory comments from the manga's creators were also released. Writer Riichiro Inagaki said the anime had adapted the original through to its final chapter, which left him overwhelmed, and that there is still more of the story to come; he asked fans to keep watching over Senku's science a little longer. Artist Boichi said he was glad to share the news with fans and asked them to look forward to further announcements.
Dr.STONE is a science-fiction survival adventure in which all of humanity is petrified in an instant by an unexplained phenomenon. Thousands of years later, Senku, a boy with a superhuman mind, uses science to produce medicine, a mobile phone, a Japanese sword and other modern items, rebuilding civilization from zero with his companions and racing up 2 million years of scientific history. Per the same Oricon report, the manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2017 to 2022 and the collected volumes have surpassed 20 million copies in cumulative circulation, while the television anime aired from July 2019 to June 2026.
