Vegeta and Asuka Take the Kyoto Stage
Ryō Horikawa (Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z) and Yūko Miyamura (Asuka in Neon Genesis Evangelion) have voiced Osaka's teen detective Heiji Hattori and his childhood friend Kazuha Toyama for decades. On September 19, 2026, the pair headlined the "TV Anime Detective Conan 30th Anniversary Stage Dokidoki! Akane-iro no Makuake!" at Kyomafu, the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair. According to an event report from Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, both walked out in kimono to loud applause. Miyamura wore a yellow kimono and a ponytail to match Kazuha.
The stage was also the third of six consecutive weekly information drops for the anniversary, delivered as a world-first reveal to the Kyoto crowd and to viewers of a livestream on the official Detective Conan anime YouTube channel. The full archive is still streaming there.
The program included a live dubbing segment in which the two actors re-performed classic Heiji and Kazuha scenes over stills from the anime. Horikawa did his part without a script, which drew surprised reactions from livestream viewers. In a fan Q&A, Horikawa said Heiji's biggest appeal is that he is straightforward, devoted and hot-blooded, with a strong sense of justice. Miyamura said Kazuha is a good kid who always watches over Heiji, even when he is single-minded about his cases.
Two Trailers: The Anniversary Special and 'Futari no Koi'
The first reveal was the full trailer for 30-gō Satsujin Jiken (30号殺人事件), the two-hour special airing September 25, 2026 on NTV's Friday Roadshow movie slot. It is the show's first two-hour TV special in 10 years. The trailer shows Conan Edogawa and an all-star cast chasing two mysteries: the counterfeiting of Japan's new banknotes and a murder. Mai Kuraki's new song "Hallelujah" (ハレルヤ) is its theme song.
The second was a special PV titled "Futari no Koi" (二人の恋, roughly "Their Love") for Akane-iro no Senshūraku (茜色の千秋楽), the Osaka-set storyline from manga volume 106 that the report calls a pivotal chapter of the original manga. The PV looks back over Heiji and Kazuha's history and closes with a first look at footage from the episodes themselves. Miyamura said she was seeing the trailer for the first time, and Horikawa said the look back at Heiji and Kazuha's journey left him overwhelmed.
The anime will air the storyline over three consecutive Saturdays at 6 p.m. JST: "Shonichi" (Opening Day) on September 26, "Zenraku" (Penultimate Day) on October 3, and "Ōraku" (Final Day) on October 10, 2026 (some regions excepted). The 30-gō Satsujin Jiken broadcast will also include special footage that bridges directly into the Akane-iro no Senshūraku episodes starting the next day.
A Tribute to Wakana Yamazaki
The most emotional beat came when Miyamura was asked about recording Akane-iro no Senshūraku. She said she felt the love of staff and fans who had waited for this story, and that the person she most wanted to see it was Wakana Yamazaki. Yamazaki voiced Ran Mori from the start of the anime in 1996; Anime News Network reported she stepped away for medical treatment in February 2026 and died on April 18, 2026, at 61, with Akemi Okamura (Nami in One Piece) taking over the role.
Miyamura said Okamura approached the part of Ran with enormous resolve, and that Okamura had told her she feels Yamazaki watching whenever she performs. Miyamura added that she felt the same presence during this recording session. Horikawa's response was brief: "She's there."
Mai Kuraki's 30th Conan Song
The stage also confirmed Kuraki's new song "Ai de Zenbu Dakishimete Aishite" (愛で全部抱きしめて愛して, roughly "Embrace It All with Love and Love Me") as the new ending theme starting September 26, the same day Akane-iro no Senshūraku begins. It is Kuraki's 30th song for Detective Conan, arriving in the anime's 30th year; "Hallelujah" for the special was her 29th. The digital single releases October 10, 2026 through NORTHERN MUSIC.
Miyamura read a statement from Kuraki on stage. Kuraki said the song was made with gratitude and love for the 30th anniversary, built around the idea that if life has an end, everything in it is love, and that we should embrace all of it.
One more detail for the special: 30-gō Satsujin Jiken will air with an audio commentary track featuring Minami Takayama (Conan), Okamura (Ran), Rikiya Koyama (Kogoro Mori), Horikawa, Miyamura and series director 鎌仲史陽 (likely Fumiharu Kamanaka), covering recording stories and the 30-year milestone.
Looking Ahead
The next dates are September 25 for 30-gō Satsujin Jiken on Friday Roadshow, September 26 for the first Akane-iro no Senshūraku episode, and October 10 for both the final episode and Kuraki's single. Three more weekly information drops remain in the six-week anniversary campaign, and the report notes the archived stage stream also revealed new stills from the special.
International streaming of the new episodes and the special has not been announced. Crunchyroll and Netflix currently carry curated Detective Conan episode collections rather than a simulcast, and the manga, including the volume 106 storyline being adapted, is published in English by Viz Media as Case Closed, with more than 1,100 chapters on the VIZ Manga app.
