What the BokuYaba Movie Brings to Streaming
Shin-Ei Animation's The Dangers in My Heart movie opened in Japanese theaters on February 13, 2026. Based on the manga by Norio Sakurai (桜井のりお), the series follows two contrasting middle schoolers: Ichikawa Kyōtarō, a boy deep in his chuunibyou (adolescent-fantasy) phase, and his popular classmate Yamada Anna, whose innocent charm gradually wins him over.
The film re-edits the TV series from Ichikawa's point of view and adds new footage set after Season 2, including a live performance scene for Ichikawa's sister Kana and a "special moment" between the two leads. Shun Horie (堀江瞬) returns as Ichikawa and Hina Yomiya (羊宮妃那) reprises Yamada. The movie's theme song, "Madder" (茜), is performed by Yorushika.
The movie joins Prime Video Japan on July 13 as an exclusive, meaning it won't appear on other Japanese streaming platforms.
A New Ghost in the Shell Anime Hits Prime Video
July's other major anime arrival is a brand-new Ghost in the Shell TV anime, adapted from Masamune Shirow's (士郎正宗) cyberpunk manga. The series debuts on Kansai TV and Fuji TV on July 7 and arrives on Prime Video the same night.
Science SARU handles the animation. The series marks the directing debut of Mokochan, with Akutagawa Prize-winning novelist Toh EnJoe (円城塔) writing the series composition and scripts. Shuhei Handa (半田修平), character designer on Spriggan (2023), fills the same role here alongside chief animation director duties. The production brings together Science SARU, Bandai Namco Filmworks, Kodansha, Production I.G, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Set in a near-future where cybernetic brains and full-body prosthetics are commonplace, the story follows Major Motoko Kusanagi and Public Security Section 9 as they confront increasingly complex cybercrime and terrorism. The ending theme, "Blue," is performed by MILLENNIUM PARADE featuring Saya Gray and Daniel Caesar.
The series had its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in late June 2026 and is confirmed for global streaming on Prime Video (excluding China, Russia, and Vietnam).
Over 20 Pokémon Movies and More
July's anime additions go well beyond the two headliners. Over 20 classic Pokémon movies arrive on Prime Video Japan starting July 4, spanning from the original Mewtwo Strikes Back through the XY&Z era's Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel. The collection spans nearly two decades of Pokémon theatrical releases. A batch of Crayon Shin-chan films also joins the catalog.
Four more anime films land on July 1: Pompo the Cinephile, On-Gaku: Our Sound, Goodbye, Don Glees!, and Our Seven-Day War. The World Is Dancing, a historical anime about the origins of Noh theater based on Kazuto Mihara's manga, begins streaming ahead of its TV broadcast on June 29.
Looking Ahead
International fans can stream the new Ghost in the Shell anime on Prime Video globally starting July 7. The show airs weekly on Tuesdays at 11 PM JST.
The Dangers in My Heart movie currently has no announced date for international streaming. The TV series is available on Crunchyroll in most markets, and a third season is confirmed for 2027.
Prime Video has not announced whether the Pokémon and Crayon Shin-chan movie batches will reach its international catalog.
