What the Trailer Reveals
The second-cour main PV quickly raises the stakes. Antagonist Ivan Yosano launches an assault on the Higashimura settlement and confronts the village elder Yamaha. The footage then cuts to Kyōka entrusting a mission to Danji, Yuru's childhood friend, before teasing a mysterious new character with an alien-like appearance. The trailer closes with Danji sprinting through the lower world alongside Oshirasama.
The accompanying key visual frames the second cour around conflict. The Left-Right pair clashes head-on with Ivan at center stage, while Yuru draws a bow behind them, eyes locked on the enemy.
Daemons of the Shadow Realm follows twins Yuru and Asa, born in a remote mountain village as "the twins who separate night and day." The series adapts Hiromu Arakawa's manga, serialized in Monthly Shōnen Gangan (Square Enix), and is produced at Bones Film, a subsidiary of Studio Bones (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, My Hero Academia).
New Theme Songs for Cour 2
The second cour introduces new theme songs. The new opening, "back shot," comes from Masanori Otoda, who broke out with the viral hit "fake fake dance music" in 2023. In a statement shared by Japanese entertainment news site Comic Natalie, Otoda described "back shot" as a track built around "the hidden face of humanity, the distrust and hypocrisy" he has felt throughout his life. He tied the theme directly to the series, pointing to Yuru's pure desire to protect those close to him and the outsiders who try to exploit that sincerity. "back shot" can be heard in the new PV.
The ending theme, "Kujaku" (Peacock), is performed by Kei Sugawara. In her comment, Sugawara said she sang with a singular conviction: "I just want you to live." She had been following the manga before the project came to her, and described reading a letter from Otoda and listening to his track as making the recording session feel like a private discussion about the series.
