Episode 49 of the mini anime Maomao no Hitorigoto (猫猫のひとりごと, "Maomao's Monologue") has been released on the official X account for The Apothecary Diaries, ABEMA TIMES reported on October 7, 2026. The short is also available on the TOHO animation YouTube channel.
In the mini anime, characters explain in plain terms the knowledge that comes up in the main series. This installment pairs super-deformed versions of Maomao and Chou-u. ABEMA TIMES said the exchanges between the cute super-deformed characters drew a large response, with fan comments including "I'm glad season 3 has the mini anime too" and "Mini Maomao is cute!" (translated from Japanese).
The same report says the third season of the television anime started in October 2026 and is being broadcast as a split two-cour, with the second part from April 2027.
