Anime Anime reports that Anno started the project himself and has been producing the film since 2024, aiming for a work that contributes to the further development of the Space Battleship Yamato series and that many people can enjoy. In a comment released with the announcement, Anno said he wants to keep making a Yamato that does not just fulfill a boyhood dream but also carries prayers and wishes for the next generation and his own, and that this is the feeling behind the production.
