By Kyle Kawasaki

Universal Studios Japan will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2026 with a year-long celebration under the theme "Discover U!!!" The anniversary program launches March 4, 2026 and runs through March 30, 2027.
The Osaka theme park opens its doors on March 31, 2026 marking exactly 25 years since its grand opening. To commemorate this milestone, the park announced its anniversary theme carries dual meaning: "Discover You" represents guests encountering unexpected sides of themselves, while "Discover USJ" reflects on the park's 25-year journey and rediscovering the power of entertainment.
The anniversary vision centers on guests unleashing their authentic selves through the park's exhilarating entertainment, maintaining that excitement even after returning to daily life. Universal Studios Japan aims to deliver a special year where super-stimulating entertainment makes guests feel sensations they never knew existed within themselves.
The celebration period begins March 4, 2026 with special anniversary programming continuing through March 30, 2027. The park promises continuous announcements of new information regarding the 25th anniversary festivities filled with ultra-exciting entertainment experiences.
As the first project celebrating the milestone, Universal Studios Japan will participate in Midosuji Runway 2025 on November 3, 2025. The special performance expresses gratitude to local Osaka residents with a medley of theme songs from past anniversary entertainment programs. Popular park characters including Ayakoji Reika, Deacon from WaterWorld, Mario and Luigi from Super Nintendo World, Elmo and Snoopy will gather for this exclusive one-day performance embodying the "Discover U!!!" theme.
Universal Studios Japan belongs to the Comcast NBCUniversal Group and has established itself as a major landmark in Japan's entertainment and leisure industry, attracting visitors domestically and internationally. The park offers world-class entertainment featuring authentic attractions and shows based on popular Hollywood films and various globally recognized entertainment brands including Japanese anime. Through seasonal events and unforgettable experiences of ultimate excitement, the park serves as a special place where all guests can break out of their shells and become energized.
Since opening in 2001, the park has continuously innovated with additions including the wildly popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the revolutionary flying coaster The Flying Dinosaur soaring through the Jurassic Park area, Minion Hachamecha Ride delivering chaotic fun in Minion Park, and Super Nintendo World where guests physically engage their play instincts in an unprecedented interactive experience themed after Nintendo games.
