What Is Sasaki and Peeps?

Based on Buncololi's light novel published under KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J imprint, the series follows a burnt-out office worker named Sasaki who buys a pet bird from a shop. The bird introduces himself as Piercarlo, a denizen of other worlds and the Star Sage. He is, of course, also a Java sparrow. Sasaki nicknames him Peeps.

Peeps grants Sasaki the ability to travel between worlds and use magic. Sasaki starts moonlighting as a merchant in the fantasy realm, hauling goods from Japan to turn a profit and running his own restaurant on the side. His double life spirals further when he encounters real psychics on his commute home and gets scouted by a secret government agency, the Cabinet Office Paranormal Countermeasures Bureau. The series mixes isekai fantasy, workplace comedy, and supernatural government thriller.

The light novel is illustrated by Kantoku, and a manga adaptation also runs in KADOKAWA's Shōnen Ace Plus.
