The Record of a Fallen Vampire (Vampire Jūjikai) will air as a TV anime in 2027, Oricon reported on October 5, 2026. The announcement came with a teaser visual and a teaser PV, and named Yuma Uchida as Rose Red Strauss and Aino Shimada as Bridget Irving Frostheart, the leader of the dhampirs.
Mankyū directs and handles series composition, jimao is the character designer, and Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) composes the music. Zero-G and Liber are producing the animation together.
The manga, written by Kyo Shirodaira with art by Yuri Kimura, has been serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan since 2003, and this is its first anime adaptation, 24 years after serialization began. Viz Media published the manga in English as The Record of a Fallen Vampire, the title also used on the anime's official site.
The story is set in a world where vampires, humans and dhampirs, the mixed-blood offspring of the two, live alongside one another. Strauss, the last king of the "Night Kingdom" and known as the Red Rose Vampire King, has kept up a solitary thousand-year fight to recover the queen, whom humans sealed away. A new threat appears in the world and sets off the unraveling of truths left unrevealed until then, in a thousand-year story of love and revenge.
The teaser PV, posted to Pony Canyon's anime channel on YouTube, shows a tense scene between Strauss, who has resolved to abandon his kingdom to get the queen back, and Bridget, who tries to stop him. It includes the line, in translation, "If you want to kill me, find a hell worse than me," alongside a run of ominous on-screen text. The teaser visual shows Strauss looking down from against a red moon, with Bridget facing him, great sword at the ready.
In comments released with the announcement, Uchida described Strauss as a very strong, quiet person, and said he wants to grasp what Strauss is thinking and what he keeps fighting for as he plays the role. Shimada described Bridget as a proud woman who combines strength and nobility, and asked viewers to watch a story woven from the characters' tangled relationships and feelings.
