What the New PV Actually Shows
The trailer, posted to the official Re:Zero YouTube channel, revisits the struggles Subaru and his allies went through in the Loss Arc, the 11-episode first half of Season 4 that ran from April to June 2026. Woven in with that footage are new cuts, including the first glimpse of a new enemy, according to Japanese anime news site Anime Anime. Who or what that enemy is stays under wraps for now.
The PV wasn't the only upload. The production also released the third entry in Season 4's making-of video series, a first for the franchise. This one centers on Rie Takahashi (Megumin in KonoSuba, Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko), the voice of heroine Emilia, combining a mock dubbing session with an interview about the season's production.
Where Season 4 Stands
For anyone catching up: Re:Zero adapts Tappei Nagatsuki's fantasy light novels about Natsuki Subaru, a boy pulled into another world with one grim power, Return by Death, which rewinds time whenever he dies. The novels began on the Japanese web fiction site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in April 2012, moved to print under Kadokawa's MF Bunko J label in 2014, and have passed 16 million copies in worldwide circulation, digital editions included.
Masahiro Shinohara directs Season 4 at WHITE FOX, the studio behind every season of the anime, with Masahiro Yokotani handling series composition, Kenichirō Suehiro composing the music, and Nagatsuki himself supervising the scripts. Yūsuke Kobayashi returns as Subaru alongside Takahashi's Emilia, Satomi Arai as Beatrice, and Inori Minase as Rem, with a wider cast that includes Takuya Eguchi as Julius Juukulius and Fairouz Ai as Shaula. The season's opening theme is Konomi Suzuki's "Recollect" featuring Ashnikko, with MYTH & ROID's "Ender Ember" featuring TK of Ling tosite sigure as the ending theme.
ABEMA's Four-Day Free Marathon
To get everyone ready for the premiere, Japanese streaming platform ABEMA opens a dedicated Re:Zero channel on August 8 at 11:00 a.m. JST and runs one season per day through August 11: Season 1 on the 8th, Season 2 on the 9th, Season 3 on the 10th, and the Loss Arc on the 11th. All 77 episodes stream free, and the two OVAs, Memory Snow and The Frozen Bond, air overnight after the first day's block.
The real draw is the commentary. Select episodes come with visual commentary from the cast. Kobayashi and Minase sit down for Season 1's episode 18, "From Zero," the pairings rotate through Arai, Takahashi, and others across Seasons 2 and 3, and the Loss Arc finale, episode 77, gets a three-person track with Kobayashi, Takahashi, and Arai together.
Looking Ahead
The Recapture Arc premieres Wednesday, August 12 on TOKYO MX, AT-X, BS11, and the rest of the 21-station lineup. In Japan, ABEMA and d Anime Store stream each episode from 10:30 p.m. JST that same night, ahead of the terrestrial broadcasts, with other services following from August 15.
Internationally, Crunchyroll has carried Season 4 since the Loss Arc's April premiere and announced same-day English dub releases for the season back in April. The source novels are published in English by Yen Press as Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, with volume 28 out now, so readers who want to see where the story goes past the anime have plenty of runway.
