Advance images from the first episode of the TV anime Psyren, based on Toshiaki Iwashiro's manga, were released ahead of its broadcast premiere on TOKYO MX and other stations on Monday, October 5, 2026, according to an Otaku Soken report carried by Yahoo! News.

TOKYO MX and BS11 carry the series on Mondays at 23:00 JST and Sun TV on Mondays at 24:00, all from October 5. Mie TV starts on October 7, with Wednesday slots at 24:20. Streaming starts at 23:30 on October 5, according to the anime's official site.

The first episode is titled 都市伝説, meaning "urban legend." Ageha Yoshina, a first-year high school student, runs an odd-jobs service and settles incidents by helping people out, though the synopsis calls him an empty boy who only wants a reason to lash out. At a public phone he passes, he finds a suspicious telephone card, the same as the one his childhood friend Sakurako Amamiya had. Sakurako then leaves Ageha with a plea for help and goes missing. Looking into the card leads Ageha to an urban legend: the secret society Psyren and its emissary, the phantom Nemesis Q, guide people to paradise. He laughs off the rumor, but mysterious attackers come after the card and corner him. Seeking help, he answers a ringing phone, and the next moment he has been thrown into an unfamiliar wasteland.

Katsumi Ono, whose credits include the Senki Zesshou Symphogear series, directs the anime at Satelight, with Shin Yoshida handling series composition. Rikuya Yasuda voices Ageha Yoshina and Mayuko Kazama voices Sakurako Amamiya. The official staff and cast page lists theme songs by CLAN QUEEN ("WARNING!!") and Who-ya Extended ("ICARUS").

The manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2008 to 2010. The report notes that it was nominated three times in AnimeJapan's poll ranking manga that readers want to see animated.
