A Movie-Sized Roster for the Phantom Live Stage

The announcement came during Paradox Live Dope Show 2026, the franchise's largest-ever live concert held across May 30-31 at Ariake Arena. An initial teaser video opened with the tagline "That excitement returns to the screen once more" before cycling through line-art reveals of every team set to appear.

The TV anime, which aired 12 episodes from October to December 2023 on TOKYO MX, featured four of the franchise's competing HIP HOP crews: BAE, The Cat's Whiskers, cozmez, and Buraikan. The film expands that roster dramatically, adding Buraikan (武雷管) from the TV series alongside four teams making their anime debuts: VISTY, AMPRULE, 1Nm8, and GokuLuck. That brings the total to nine teams and 29 named characters sharing the screen — the fullest animated representation the franchise has ever had.

For fans unfamiliar with the source project, Paradox Live is an avex × GCREST HIP HOP media-mix franchise set in a near-future where artists use accessories containing a metal called "Phantometal" that reacts with their DNA, creating emotion-linked phantoms during spectacular stage battles. The four original teams receive invitations to a mysterious tournament at the legendary CLUB paradox, where a far larger conspiracy waits behind the scenes.

New Studio, Familiar Director

Production shifts from Pine Jam, which handled the TV series, to STUDIO GRAPH77 — a young studio established under Avex Pictures' subsidiary FLAGSHIP LINE. Graph77's debut credit was the "Shikaku" segment of the Tatsuki Fujimoto short-story anthology Fujimoto Tatsuki 17-26, which streamed on Prime Video in late 2025. That segment was directed by Naoya Andō, who also directed the Paradox Live TV anime, suggesting continuity in creative leadership even as the studio banner changes.

No release window, story details, or additional staff have been disclosed for the film yet. The teaser is deliberately spare — line-art character silhouettes over the franchise logo, designed more as a statement of intent than a plot preview.

4th Season and a Wave of New Content

The movie wasn't the only bombshell. The franchise's main multimedia storyline will enter its 4th Season in September 2026, marking a new chapter for the project's music, drama CDs, and ongoing narrative.

A teaser PV for the 4th Season leaned into mystery, flashing newspaper-style images with partially redacted text referencing "Phantometal," "CLUB Paradox," and an obscured headline hinting at wider societal impact. The on-screen message — "The story of Paradox Live begins to move in a major way" — suggests a significant narrative escalation.

Several other announcements rounded out the event:

  • Cover song project "PROPS": Nine tracks where each team covers a classic song as a tribute. Details to follow.
  • Stage play continuation: Paradox Live on Stage returns with two new runs — "Road to Legend: RAGE" (October 2-11, 2026) and "Road to Legend: FATE" (February 19-28, 2027) — adding the same four new teams debuting in the film.
  • "LOOK BOOK" illustration project: Artist Keiko will produce original illustrations of all 29 characters, rolling out in July 2026.
  • Dope Show 2026 home release: The concert's Blu-ray and DVD ship October 21, 2026. Archive streaming runs through June 7.

Looking Ahead

The Paradox Live franchise is clearly building toward a convergence point — the 4th Season, the film, and the stage plays all bring the full nine-team roster together for the first time across their respective media.

For international fans, the TV anime streamed on Crunchyroll during its 2023 run, though no streaming partner has been confirmed for the upcoming film. The 4th Season's music releases typically reach global platforms through Avex's distribution network, so accessibility for the audio side of the project should remain strong.

The Dope Show 2026 archive stream is available until June 7, 2026, for anyone wanting to catch the concert performances and the full announcement reveals firsthand. Beyond that, all eyes turn to September for the 4th Season launch — and whatever the redacted headlines in that teaser PV are hiding.
