Two Ability Users Who Spent Their Days Trying to Kill Each Other

The premise is right there in the title. Rōshi Saigawa and Ritsuka Nagira belonged to rival organizations of people with supernatural abilities, and they fought each other over goals that could not coexist. He was known as the Feather Hunter. She was called the White Demon, and the novels bill her as the strongest ability user of the two factions. Neither had much ordinary social experience.

Then the organizations dissolved, the two started seeing each other, and somehow they got married.

What is left is a domestic comedy about a couple who are faintly embarrassing to be around. Ritsuka sends Rōshi off to the office every morning with a kiss at the front door. The husband has exactly one problem, and it powers the whole series: the two have never shared a bed. He is a married virgin, and each volume is another attempt to close that distance while fresh trouble gets in the way. The official synopsis opens with "I hate you," answered by "What a coincidence. Me too."

One note on the name. The English title My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis comes from One Peace Books, which licensed the manga version for North America. The Japanese title, Soshiki no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai, reads closer to "Marrying My Organization's Sworn Enemy Is Super Sweet."

The Promo Video Is Pure Novel Art

The announcement came with a promo video on the Dengeki Bunko Channel, Kadokawa's YouTube account for its light novel imprint. There is no animated footage in it. The video uses only Kewi Hayashi's original novel illustrations of Rōshi and Ritsuka, which is standard for a Japanese adaptation reveal at this stage. Per the Oricon report on the announcement, the staff list arrived at the same time, and that is the more substantial half of the news.

A Beast Tamer Director and a Quintuplets Writer

EMT Squared is handling animation production, with Ankichi Kōbō credited for production assistance. Atsushi Nigorikawa directs, and knows the studio well: Nigorikawa also directed Beast Tamer and Once Upon a Witch's Death there.

Series composition goes to Keiichirō Ōchi (The Quintessential Quintuplets, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten), whose recent credits are mostly romantic comedies built on close-quarters domestic tension. Yūki Nakano is on character design. Hayashi stays attached as original illustrator, and Uzō is credited as original author.

No cast, broadcast window, or episode count has been announced.

The Author Wrote It as a Standalone Volume

In their comment, Uzō said the first book was built as a self-contained single volume, which is why the adaptation news came as a surprise. Uzō thanked the former editor-in-chief who launched the project with them, their current editor, both artists working on the franchise, everyone involved in the adaptation, and the readers.

Hayashi was more specific about what they want out of it. Cute Ritsuka moments that would not fit into the novel illustrations had already made it into Shīme's manga adaptation, and Hayashi wrote that seeing them animated on top of that is something to look forward to as a fan of the series.

The light novels launched in October 2023 and are four volumes deep, with volume 5 shipping November 10, 2026. Shīme's manga version has been running in Dengeki Maoh, Kadokawa's manga magazine, since November 2024.

Looking Ahead

No premiere date has been set, and no international streaming partner has been named. Nothing from the franchise is readable in English yet either, though that changes soon: One Peace Books licensed Shīme's manga in May 2026 and ships volume 1 on March 16, 2027. The light novels themselves remain unlicensed in English.

The project's official X account, @soshishuku_pr, will post further updates. A key visual and a cast announcement are the likely next milestones before a broadcast date.
