Roxy Goes Back to Teaching

Episode 4 picks up with Rudeus in a rare stretch of calm. With help from Zanoba and Cliff, he has secured a new left hand, a prosthetic the series calls "Zarif's arm" (ザリフの義手). But according to the synopsis published by Japanese entertainment news site Oricon News, the calm doesn't put his mind at ease. Convinced that danger could come for his family again someday, and holding onto the thought that he never wants to lose anyone, Rudeus keeps pushing his research. Then he finally pleads with Roxy to teach him Water King-class magic.

Roxy is his wife now, but she was also his magic teacher long before that, which is what gives the request its weight. Konomi Kohara voices Roxy opposite Yumi Uchiyama's Rudeus, the same pairing the anime has run with since 2021.

An Animation Callback to Season 1's "Master"

Oricon points to a specific reference for the episode's big moment: the graduation exam from Season 1 Episode 2, "Master" (師匠), where teacher and student performed a grand-scale magic display that has stayed lodged in fans' memories ever since. Per the report, Episode 4 delivers animation built to recall that scene.

That sets a high bar for the production. Studio Bind is again handling animation for Season 3, as it has for every season of the show.

Where Season 3 Sits in the Story

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation follows a 34-year-old shut-in who dies in a traffic accident and wakes up as a newborn in a world of swords and sorcery. Reborn as Rudeus Greyrat with his past-life memories and regrets intact, he resolves to live seriously this time. Oricon describes the series as an epic fantasy saga, and the broadcast history backs up the "saga" part: Season 1 aired in two halves across 2021 (January to March, then October to December), while Season 2 ran from July to September 2023 and again from April to June 2024.

Season 3 premiered on July 5, 2026 and airs Sundays in Japan, which puts "Water King-Class Magician" in the July 19 slot.

Looking Ahead

Internationally, Crunchyroll is streaming Season 3 as it airs, and MyAnimeList currently lists the season at 14 episodes. The most recent full trailer, set to Mika Nakashima's ending theme "Inori, Owareba," is up on TOHO animation's official YouTube channel. Fans who want to read ahead of the anime can find the Mushoku Tensei light novels and manga in English from Seven Seas Entertainment.
