The Eris Detour Ends and the Show Comes Home
Season 3 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation opened at a distance from its own protagonist. The July 4, 2026, double-episode premiere kicked off with the Eris Training Arc, a side story following Eris Boreas Greyrat (Ai Kakuma) on her own training journey, starting with Episode 1, "Moeyo Kyōken" (roughly "Burn, Mad Dog"). Episode 3 swings the show back to its main storyline, according to the synopsis and preview stills published by Japanese entertainment news site Dengeki Online.
The series, adapted from Rifujin na Magonote's light novels (MF Books / KADOKAWA), follows a 34-year-old recluse who dies in Japan and is reborn in a fantasy world as Rudeus Greyrat, resolved to take his second life seriously. After two seasons of that second life going through school, war, and heartbreak, Episode 3's title says it plainly: the everyday routine is back.
Roxy Settles Into the Greyrat Household, and Cliff Objects
Per the synopsis, Rudeus has welcomed Roxy, his old magic tutor, as his second wife and has begun a quiet family life with his first wife Sylphiette, their daughter Lucy, and his younger sisters Norn and Aisha. He also returns to Ranoa Magic Academy, and Roxy will be teaching there as well.
The calm does not hold. As Rudeus introduces Roxy to everyone as his wife, Cliff cannot accept the second marriage because of his faith, and the synopsis cuts off right at his reaction. Whatever comes of that standoff, we'll find out when the episode airs. The preview stills show the homecoming in progress.
Konomi Kohara (Chika Fujiwara in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) voices Roxy. Yumi Uchiyama leads the cast as Rudeus, with Tomokazu Sugita as the man from Rudeus' previous life, Ai Kayano as Sylphiette, and Ryōta Ōsaka as Cliff.
Season 3 Staff and Music
Studio Bind, the studio behind the anime since its 2021 debut, is producing Season 3, with Ryōsuke Shibuya directing and sharing series composition credit with 谷内直人. Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes the music, and production is handled by EGG FIRM.
The theme songs pair Yuiko Ōhara, who performs the opening theme "Ketsui no Uta," with J-pop singer Mika Nakashima on the ending theme "Inori, Owareba."
Looking Ahead
Crunchyroll is simulcasting Season 3, with new episodes arriving weekly on Sundays across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Oceania, and other territories. That puts Episode 3 up next this weekend. In Japan, the season premiered on July 4 with a special back-to-back broadcast of the first two episodes on TOKYO MX, ABEMA, and d Anime Store.
For readers who want to run ahead of the anime, Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation light novels and manga in English.
