A Beef Bowl Sized for Giants
Matsuya, the nationwide Japanese chain built around gyumeshi beef bowls, curry, and set meals, announced the campaign in a PR TIMES release on August 14. The headline item is the Kyojin Mori Set, or "Giant Serving Set," a nod to the Elbaph arc currently airing in the TV anime. It piles triple the regular portion of beef and onions onto an extra-large serving of rice, and the release politely warns customers to consider the volume before ordering.
The lighter option is the ONE PIECE Set: add ¥200 (tax included) to any of six gyumeshi varieties, from the standard beef bowl to the cheese, kimchi, and tomato-cheese versions. Either set comes with one acrylic block chopstick rest from a 12-design lineup, handed out at random and exclusive to this collaboration. Both sets went on sale June 30 and run through 9:59 a.m. on October 6, while supplies last. Orders through Matsuya's own mobile order and delivery services count too, though Matsuya prohibits reselling the goods.
What Round 2 Actually Adds
Since the collab sets have been on the menu since late June, the new pieces starting August 18 are aimed at families and collectors. Every order of Matsuya's two kids' meals, the Okosama Gyumeshi Wakuwaku Set and the Okosama Curry Wakuwaku Set, now comes with an original name charm, again in 12 random designs, through October 6 while stock lasts.
There is also a receipt lottery. Any Matsuya receipt of ¥800 or more (tax included) issued between June 30 and October 6 can be entered on the campaign site through October 13, with an exclusive collaboration donburi bowl going to 100 winners.
Finally, the follow-and-repost giveaway on X gets a second round. Follow the official @matsuya_foods account and repost the designated post between August 18 and August 30, and 10 winners receive the complete 12-piece chopstick rest set plus 5,000 Matsuya loyalty points, shipping in late September.
Why the Menu Says Elbaph
The TV anime entered the Elbaph arc on April 5, 2026 on Fuji TV. In the storyline, the Straw Hat crew escapes the future island Egghead and finally reaches Elbaph, the long-awaited land of giants, together with the Giant Warrior Pirates. The tie-in practically writes itself: a menu item with triple the meat.
The press release also recaps the franchise's scale. Eiichiro Oda's manga has run in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump since 1997 and topped 600 million copies in circulation worldwide as of March 2026, with more than 450 million in Japan and over 150 million overseas. And 2026 is a crowded year for the series beyond the manga: season 2 of Netflix's live-action ONE PIECE has been streaming since March 10, and THE ONE PIECE, the new series that re-adapts the manga from chapter one at Wit Studio (Spy x Family, Attack on Titan seasons 1-3), arrives on Netflix worldwide in February 2027.
Looking Ahead
The campaign itself is Japan-only. It covers every Matsuya location nationwide, including the combined stores that share space with sister brands Matsunoya and My Curry Shokudo, and the goods are not sold separately. Round 2 runs from 10:00 a.m. on August 18 to 9:59 a.m. on October 6, 2026, with each item gone once a store runs out.
The anime behind it is much easier to reach from abroad. The Elbaph arc streams internationally on Crunchyroll and Netflix, and Anime News Network reports the arc's English dub arrives this fall. After that, the next major date on the franchise calendar is THE ONE PIECE's February 2027 Netflix debut.
