A-1 Pictures Returns With a New Look
A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Solo Leveling) released a teaser PV for Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 3 at Anime Expo 2026, confirming the Tri-Magicathalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc will premiere in January 2027.
The trailer features Mash's voice and uses new character designs by Chiaki Furuzumi, who replaces original character designer Hisashi Higashijima for the third season. Furuzumi previously served as chief animation director and sub-character designer on both seasons of Solo Leveling. The PV shows Mash and his friends settling back into everyday life after Innocent Zero's invasion before the stakes ramp up again with the Divine Visionary Final Exam, according to Oricon News.
Director Tomoya Tanaka returns alongside series composition writer Yōsuke Kuroda and composer Masaru Yokoyama. The core voice cast is back as well, with Chiaki Kobayashi reprising Mash Burnedead, Kaito Ishikawa as Lance Crown, Reiji Kawashima as Finn Ames, Reina Ueda as Lemon Irvine, and Takuya Eguchi as Dot Barrett.
The Muscles Behind the Magic
Mashle: Magic and Muscles is based on Hajime Komoto's manga of the same name, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) until its conclusion in July 2023. The series has surpassed 12 million copies in circulation.
The premise inverts the magical school genre. Mash Burnedead lives in a world where magic determines your social standing, but he can't use any of it. His answer to every problem is raw physical strength. He punches, flexes, and deadlifts his way through magical duels and exams, all while aiming for the school's highest honor: the title of Divine Visionary.
The anime's first season aired from April to July 2023, with the second season covering the Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc from January to March 2024. The third season's Tri-Magicathalon arc picks up after Innocent Zero's attack on the school. Mash and his allies now face the final trial to earn the Divine Visionary title, the goal that has driven the series from its first episode.
Looking Ahead
Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 3 premieres in January 2027. Crunchyroll streamed the first two seasons internationally with both subtitles and an English dub produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Season 3 streaming details have not been announced yet, but Crunchyroll's track record with the franchise makes a return likely.
The source manga is published in English by Viz Media and available through the Shonen Jump digital platform. Since the manga wrapped in 2023, the complete story is available for fans who want to read ahead.
