The TV anime of Tsumuji Yoshimura's manga Just Like Mona Lisa (Seibetsu "Mona Lisa" no Kimi e.) will air in 2027. Its main visual and first main trailer were released on October 21, 2026, according to a Shiritomo report. The announcement gives only the year, not a specific broadcast season.
Chika Anzai stars as protagonist Hinase Arima. The newly announced cast members are Yoshino Aoyama, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Daisuke Sakuma of Snow Man, Chiharu, Kakeru Hatano, Haruna Mikawa and Shion Wakayama (English spellings from Anime News Network). CyberAgent's release doesn't say yet which characters they will voice and says more details will follow.
In a post on X, Sakuma said he had given everything to express "the delicacy, fragility and precariousness of people" that comes through in the original work (translated).
Singer-songwriter imase wrote the ending theme, "Mayoi wa Hikari," for the anime, and the trailer previews it.
Shaft is animating the series, with Kana Shundo directing and CyberAgent managing production, according to Anime News Network.
The manga began in Square Enix's Gangan Online in May 2018. It is set in a world where people can choose the gender they want around age 12, and their bodies settle as male or female by 14. Hinase is the only person still genderless at 18. The TV anime adaptation was first announced on June 17, 2026.
