A Luxury Bear for Volleyball's Biggest Little Guy
Steiff, the German toymaker that literally invented the teddy bear in 1902, is bringing its artisan craftsmanship to the world of high school volleyball. The company has partnered with the Haikyu!! anime on a collaboration teddy bear modeled after protagonist Shoyo Hinata.
The bear is made from mohair, the same material Steiff uses for its classic collector pieces. It comes dressed in a stretchy polyester replica of Hinata's Karasuno High uniform. Because each bear is assembled by hand, every one has a slightly different facial expression. The limbs are fully poseable, and Hinata's name and birthday are embroidered on the soles of the feet.
On the left ear sits Steiff's signature "Button in Ear" trademark, alongside a limited-edition white tag with red lettering. Each tag is stamped with the production year and an individual serial number.
Price, Pre-Orders, and Shipping
The bear is priced at ¥66,000 including tax (approx. $440), and pre-orders are now live on TOHO animation STORE ONLINE. Shipping is scheduled for May 2027.
Steiff isn't new to the anime merchandise space. The brand has previously collaborated with TOHO animation on a Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo Satoru teddy bear, and has produced licensed bears for Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon, and Hatsune Miku. Each collaboration carries the same hallmarks: mohair construction, the Button in Ear certification, and a price tag that puts it squarely in the collector tier.
Looking Ahead
The Hinata bear arrives during a busy stretch for the Haikyu!! franchise. Two new animated projects were announced for 2027: a theatrical film titled Haikyu!! The Movie: VS The Little Giant, which will adapt the Karasuno vs. Kamomedai match from the manga, and a special anime called Haikyu!! Where the Monsters Go covering the Fukurodani vs. Mujinazaka bout.
Haruichi Furudate's original manga is published in English by Viz Media, and the anime's four TV seasons plus the 2024 theatrical film Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle are streaming on Crunchyroll. The TOHO animation STORE ONLINE, where the Steiff bear is available for pre-order, ships within Japan. No word yet on whether TOHO animation's US storefront will carry the bear for international buyers.
