Camouflage Meets Gundam in STRICT-G's Street-Ready Lineup
The latest drop from STRICT-G's "NEW YARK" line takes two of Mobile Suit Gundam's most recognizable faces — and one very red mobile suit — and reimagines them through a streetwear lens. Anime Anime reports that three new graphic tees are joining the NEW YARK series under the theme "evolution to street casual," blending the franchise's military iconography with bold camo prints.
The collection runs on heavyweight 7.1-ounce cotton with an open-end yarn weave that gives the fabric a dry, rugged texture. A slightly raised neckline, oversized armholes, and a loose silhouette round out the streetwear profile — these aren't slim-fit anime tees tucked into khakis.
The Three Designs
Each shirt takes a different approach to the camouflage motif:
- Gundam Camo — The RX-78-2's iconic face, rendered entirely in a camouflage pattern. It's a striking clash between the clean geometry of the Gundam's V-fin and visor and the organic irregularity of camo.
- Char Camo — Char Aznable's face gets the same treatment. If you've ever wanted to wear the Red Comet's smirk as abstract streetwear, here's your shot.
- Char's Zaku II — Unlike the other two face-focused designs, this one features a full-body illustration of Char's custom Zaku II, giving it a more traditional mecha-art feel.
All three come in sizes M through XXL and are priced at ¥6,600 (approximately $43) each, tax included, with shipping and handling extra.
How to Buy
Online pre-orders are already live on Premium Bandai's STRICT-G Online Store, having opened at 1 PM JST on May 22, 2026. The pre-order window runs through June 7, 2026 at 11 PM JST, with shipping scheduled for June 2026. Bandai notes that pre-orders may close early if allocation is reached.
For in-person shoppers, general retail sales begin May 23, 2026 at four STRICT-G locations across Japan:
- STRICT-G Tokyo Odaiba
- STRICT-G Tokyo Solamachi
- STRICT-G NEOPASA Shizuoka (southbound)
- STRICT-G Taga SA (southbound)
Looking Ahead
STRICT-G items are sold through Premium Bandai, which does ship internationally in select regions — though availability, shipping costs, and timing vary. Fans outside Japan can also check proxy shopping services like Buyee or FROM JAPAN if the Premium Bandai listing doesn't ship to their region directly.
The drop comes amid Gundam's ongoing 45th-anniversary momentum, with the franchise recently announcing a slate of new projects including a Gundam SEED FREEDOM prequel theatrical screening and the 50th-anniversary initiative ramping up. For collectors, STRICT-G's limited-window pre-orders tend to sell through quickly, so the June 7 deadline is worth marking now.
