Kenjiro Tsuda, Hiroki Yasumoto and Hiroshi Kamiya have joined the cast of ghost/Yoru no Hate (ghost/夜の果て), director Shingo Natsume's first original feature-length theatrical anime, Anime! Anime! reported. The Madhouse film opens in theaters across Japan on February 11, 2027.
The New Cast
Tsuda voices Moby Dick, the creator of a virtual reality network. Moby Dick takes an interest in the film's heroine, voiced by Mayu Hotta, and approaches her.
Yasumoto and Kamiya play two childhood friends of the character voiced by Issei Takahashi. Yasumoto's Karate manages a department that handles paper cranes at the observatory where the heroine is posted. Kamiya's Itō works at the same observatory as a mental coach for people struggling with how to live. All three actors also shared comments.
The Story
The film is set in a near future where people no longer need to work. At 18, everyone is "selected" according to whether the world needs them. The heroine is a gifted, privileged girl who was selected at 15. She resists the world's injustices while searching for something real. Takahashi's character, whom she meets, carries a deep loss.
Natsume also wrote the screenplay. Natsume Ono created the original character concepts, and Bandai Namco Filmworks is distributing.
Hitsujibungaku Ticket Card
Hitsujibungaku wrote six songs for the film: its theme song and insert songs. The band and the film are also releasing a limited collaboration Mubichike card, a card-type advance ticket. Its face features a collaboration photo of the band.
A run of 2,000 cards will go on sale first at Yoyogi National Gymnasium's First Gymnasium in Tokyo on November 10 and 11, the final shows of the band's 2026 tour. The general price is ¥1,600, tax included. Further sales details will be posted later on the film's official website and social media, and mail-order sales may follow.
The film will also be presented at Animation Is Film Festival 2026 in the United States, Scotland Loves Anime 2026 in the United Kingdom, and the 13th New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival.
