Raoh's Most Expendable Employees Report Back to Work

The spin-off follows Nobu, a regular guy who lands a job in Raoh's Ken-Oh army. His daily reality: navigating a workplace populated entirely by the nameless cannon-fodder soldiers that Kenshiro and company routinely demolish in the main series. The manga, created by original Fist of the North Star duo Buronson and Tetsuo Hara with artist Hiroshi Kurao, is published under Coamix's Zenon Comics imprint.

The anime adaptation is produced by Doraku, a studio specializing in short-format animation, under the Animatica production label (a partnership between Frontier Works and Doraku). Japanese entertainment news site Comic Natalie reported that the second cour's new PV shows the grunts still scrambling to survive alongside recognizable faces from the original series. The key visual captures Nobu and crew looking appropriately stressed.

Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu Agatsuma in Demon Slayer, Connie Springer in Attack on Titan) returns as Nobu. Shinnosuke Ogami voices Zaku, Masaaki Yano plays Bazu, and Shinya Takahashi handles narration.

A 40-Year Franchise Connection Returns to the Soundtrack

The second cour's ending theme is "Shiroi Cho ga Tondara" (White Butterfly Takes Flight) by Itsuka Saisei. The track features guitar from Tsuyoshi Ujiki, who performed "SILENT SURVIVOR" as the fourth opening theme of the original Fist of the North Star anime with his band Kodomo Band back in 1986.

Ujiki shared a comment reflecting on the connection. He noted that roughly 40 years have passed since Kodomo Band took on the original theme, and that he never imagined the franchise would still be calling on him at milestones like this. He praised Fist of the North Star for proving what anime could be at a time when the medium was still widely considered children's entertainment, calling it "a human drama and a hardboiled action work that showed a new possibility for anime." He described the franchise tie as something deeply important to his career as an artist.

He also praised the new track, calling "Shiroi Cho ga Tondara" a strong song and expressing hope it reaches a wide audience as part of the Fist of the North Star sound.

Looking Ahead

The second cour premieres July 6, 2026, airing Mondays on AT-X at 20:00 JST and TOKYO MX at 21:54 JST. The first cour is available on Amazon Prime Video's Anime Times channel in Japan.

No international streaming partner has been announced for the series. The source manga has not been licensed in English, though the mainline Fist of the North Star manga is available from Viz Media for readers looking to explore the franchise.
