'Fired? But I Maintain All the Software!' Gets TV Anime

A Systems Engineer, a Pink Slip, and a Coding School

Fired? But I Maintain All the Software! (え、社内システム全てワンオペしている私を解雇ですか?) stars Ai Sato (佐藤愛), the only engineer keeping every one of her company's internal systems running. When a new president takes over, she gets a dismissal notice anyway. According to a report from Japanese entertainment news site Comic Natalie, Ai is drowning her sorrows alone at a family restaurant when she runs into her childhood friend Kenta Suzuki (鈴木健太), who has just launched his own business and promptly headhunts her.

That business is the True Programmer Academy (真のプログラマ塾), a coding school where Ai's passionate and occasionally unorthodox lectures help struggling students get back on their feet. The series is billed as a contemporary drama for people worn down by workplace stress, a story that makes tomorrow feel a little brighter.

From Web Novel to Print, Manga, and Now Television

Yuki Kashirome (下城米雪) first serialized the story as a web novel in late 2020. Publisher Shufu to Seikatsusha brought it to print under its PASH! Books label in May 2021, with illustrations by icchi, and the novels reached their fourth volume in March 2025. A manga adaptation drawn by io (伊於), with character drafts by icchi, has been running on Shufu to Seikatsusha's Comic PASH! neo web manga site since August 2022.

The anime announcement was timed to the manga's fifth volume, which went on sale in Japan on June 5, 2026. Beyond confirming that a TV adaptation is in the works, the reveal kept everything else under wraps: no studio, director, cast, or key visual has been shown yet.

Looking Ahead

There is no broadcast window, teaser trailer, or international streaming partner to report so far, and no official anime website has opened. The next concrete news to watch for is a staff and studio reveal.

English readers don't have to wait on any of that, though. J-Novel Club publishes both the original light novels and io's manga adaptation digitally under the official English title Fired? But I Maintain All the Software!, so the source material is already available ahead of the anime.
