Warner Bros. Japan's anime production division released a creditless opening featuring Ado's "Shinka," along with synopses and preview stills for the first two episodes of Devils' Crest, PASH! PLUS reported on November 6, 2026. Both episodes were scheduled to begin streaming exclusively worldwide on Prime Video at 21:00 JST that day.
Episode 1, "Shinshoku" (侵食, roughly "Erosion"), follows a sixth-grade class invited to test Actual Magic, described as the world's first full-dive VRMMO-RPG. Yūma, Sawa, Konken and Nagi form a party to clear an old castle dungeon while Konken races Teruki Sugamo's group to defeat the boss. The four narrowly beat a dragon, but soon after they discover there is no way to log out, an anomaly shakes both the game and reality. Yūma then wakes to find the real world changed and a classmate transformed.
Episode 2, "Hen'yō" (変容, roughly "Transformation"), continues in the real world, where the transformed Sumika Watamaki, having lost her reason, attacks Yūma. Konken and Sawa arrive to fight her off, and Sawa casts Actual Magic spells outside the game. On Sawa's instructions, Yūma activates the game and realizes that his in-game stats now apply in reality. When Sawa prepares another spell, Yūma stops her, insisting they must not kill a classmate. He then comes up with an idea.
The opening video is available on Warner Bros. Japan Anime's YouTube channel. "Shinka" is a new song written by Vocaloid producer YurryCanon, who has known Ado for some time. The announcement describes it as an up-tempo track about continuing to trust one's own voice and expression in a world covered by lies and fiction. Soala performs the ending theme, "ReaL."
New character visuals show Teruki, Aria Misono, Kai Kisanuki and Sumika in their Actual Magic costumes.
Devils' Crest adapts Reki Kawahara's Demons' Crest novel series. Kawahara is also the author of Sword Art Online and Accel World. The novels began publication in 2022 under KADOKAWA's Dengeki Bunko label. Shinji Ushiro is chief director and Kenichirō Komaya is director, with animation by Production I.G.
